Nick D’Aloisio at age 15 had a great idea: Summly – a iPhone app that used special algorithms to figure out what the best way is to summarize news articles for a small screen. It was such a good idea that Yahoo! bought it for 30 million dollars.
Nick D’Aloisio used angle investor money to get his idea off the ground. He was awarded innovator of the year by the Wall Street Journal. This app and it’s innovation has huge ramifications for the mobile phone app industry – it solves many problems plaguing the industry when it comes to reformatting and simplifying information. D’Aloisio released an updated version of the app in 2014, and it won an Apple Design award – not too shabby for a 19 year old.
