Intel Capital, a venture capital firm, has their youngest business partner ever in Shubham Banerjee. While his original model was made out of Lego blocks at the school science fair, he has quickly gained legitimacy and funding for his new Braille printer. Shubham has said that he was inspired when he learned about the millions of visually impaired people that are living in developing countries. Their income levels kept most of the cutting edge technology out of their reach, but Shubham wanted to change that. This young tech entrepreneur is hoping that the cost for this printer will continue to go down as development continues so it can be available to as many people as possible.
Shubham, who seems to accept his “founder” title over the 18-year old requirement for being “CEO” is ready to make a huge impact in the world, and it seems as though his inquisitive nature will take him to new heights. He has been quoted saying that “math sucks”, and he doesn’t get straight A’s, but I believe this right-brained kid will definitely have a bright future.
I think this is great because his driving force is clearly to help the disadvantaged, not make millions.
It is inspiring that such a young boy was able to realize a problem and do something about it. Also the fact that he wants to make this printer available to those who are financially struggling and visually impaired, rather than make millions, shows his true character. This boy has a good head on his shoulders.
This idea is awesome and honestly, I can’t believe its taken this long to come up with. I think, what makes this idea special is that his motivation is for people that are in need. Banerjee is also an inspiration to kids in school who think that grades are the only way to success and that anyone can make a difference.
