Benjamin Stern graduated from Viera High School, which is located in Florida, in 2017. During his junior year, he made an appearance on the TV show “Shark Tank.” He wanted to gather support for Nohbo, a newly established material packaging company. Mark Cuban, who was one of the “sharks” on the show, made a deal with Stern. Cuban was willing to invest $100,000 into Nohbo in exchange for 25% of the company. In 2020, Cuban went to Florida to provide an update on Stern and his company. Stern’s goal has been to get rid of single-use plastic containers sitting in landfills and polluting waterways. His solution to the problem is making raindrop-shaped pods, which are made up of plant-based materials. The pods include products including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Stern said that most of the shampoos are made up of approximately 90% water. He received a Thiel Fellowship and was awarded $100,000 over two years. This meant that he could not go to college during this time. Today, Ben Stern is 23 years old. He has raised $5.5 million, has secured three patents, and even has a factory in Palm Bay that can produce as much as 195,000 pods of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash daily. Nohbo works with over 60 personal care product businesses. Stern has stated that he wants to expand the company. He plans on getting the product into all drug stores, Targets, and many other places. Ben Stern’s story is very inspiring and shows that you can be successful and maintain that success long after it began.

I think this business is unlike anything I have seen before. I think that it is a very neat idea for this subject of plastic waste shower products. I love how at a young age he took on the courage to do his pitch on a shark tank. I have never thought of shower products like this before and after taking a look at the design it is very interesting if I was traveling I would definitely buy and use this. I think that if they get it on target they would draw a lot of attention. I am wondering if the shampoo and condition is made for specific hair types though?
