Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, didn’t just stop at acting as her career, but decided to become an entrepreneur in 2019 with the start of her company, Florence by Mills. This company has many different extensions such as a makeup, clothing, coffee, and pets, but it originated with just makeup. Millie named the company after her grandmother, Florence, and herself, Mills. Each part of the company was curated from things that she liked in her makeup routine or the clothing style. She makes her company stand out by packaging everything in a light purple container and aesthetic look. The company is directed at those who are around 24 years old and younger, because as Millie said in an interview, she always felt that there wasn’t a good, clean makeup brand for skin growing up and she wanted to give that to young girls. Not only is this brand focused on clean ingredients for the users, but it’s also important to her that it is an environmentally clean company as well. The company is now worth somewhere between $20-30 million and the makeup extension is ranked higher than even popular brands such as Glossier, Fenty Beauty, and Estee Lauder. I love that Millie learned from her experiences on set with makeup, and she used those experiences to create a really good makeup brand that even she herself uses. Even though makeup was a very successful part of Florence by Mills, I think it’s great that she kept going with even more ideas of what she could make her company become. Another admirable thing is that she uses some of the profit from her company to donate to a foundation called the Olivia Hope Foundation, which was founded by her friend Liv who passed away from leukemia, to help fight against childhood cancer. Along with starting the company, she also co-wrote a book last year called Nineteen Steps. She seems like the type of person to try anything no matter what others say. Whether it’s writing a book or starting a company, she does it because she believes that she can.
sorry it wouldn’t let me add a picture 🙁
I’ve always thought that Millie Bobby Brown was inspirational, and I think that it’s really cool how she decided to create her own business on top of being a successful actress. I liked how she saw that there was a need to make cleaner and better makeup/skin care for younger girls and how she also aims to make her company environmentally clean. I thought it was interesting how her brand ranks higher than Glossier and Estee Lauder! I really liked the aspect of how Millie also donates some of her profits to the Olivia Hope Foundation, especially since it was a foundation created by her friend who passed away. Overall, I really liked this post and how Millie Bobby Brown is a really inspirational entrepreneur.
I am a big fan of stranger things, so I was immediately drawn to this post because of Millie. I have heard of her brand but did not much about it. I think it is so smart for actors, actresses, and musicians to develop a business. They already have an existing fan base and can get their brand out their pretty easily. I know that if I was famous, I would be developing a business. I really like how you included the target market for her brand, because Millie is young herself, and knowing that she is directly targeting people her age and younger helps put Millie’s goals into perspective. Especially since skin care and makeup have been becoming increasingly popular among younger ages, this brand directly applies to that trend. This is a super interesting post, great job!
