Aline Morse has a very interesting entrepreneur story that begins with a rule her parents had enforced in their household, no candy. One day when young Aline went to the bank with her father one of the ladies working at the desk offered her a lollipop and Aline had to reluctantly decline because her parents had always told her not to eat candy because it causes teeth to rot and be damaged. Eventually, the experience at the bank caused Aline to have a eureka moment and she began to come up with a very innovative business idea. Aline knew that all young kids love candy, but it is difficult for little children to use self-control and understand the negative effects of eating candy and Aline had an idea to change that. Aline wanted to keep the excitement and the enjoyment of eating candy but use ingredients that are actually good for kids’ teeth and won’t cause as much damage.
Aline started to make her own candy products after watching YouTube tutorials and experimenting in her household’s kitchen. By using ingredients that were less acidic, and sugar free Aline was able to create candy that would clean kids’ teeth as they eat it. Her business idea had almost immediate success, mostly because Aline was filling the market with a new and unheard-of project. She discovered a unique way to find a niche in the market and solve a problem that most people had not previously thought of. Aliens “Zollipops” are the number one top selling sugar free lollipops, but this young girl had bigger goals set for herself and hopes to one day become the top selling lollipop in the world.
Additionally, Alines candy business has a great mission, and she donates 10 percent of her earnings to help schools include more oral health care classes so that students are informed about what will lead to damaging their teeth. Aline also shares her story continually and encourages other kids her age to pursue their passions. Although most don’t think young kids will be able to create and run successful businesses, Aline proves with her story that her younger age was actually a huge benefit. Aline was able to relate very easily to her audience and was able to use her age to decide what candy flavors other kids would want to eat. Her story is truly inspiring and demonstrates the importance of creative thinking.
Wow, what an amazing idea! It makes me think of the dog treats that clean their teeth when they eat them haha – innovative! I think it’s so cool when kids are able to come up with such revolutionary ideas!
This product is awesome – sugar from candy makes my mouth (and my stomach) feel gross, so this is a great solution for sugar intolerance as well! I love this!
This is so cool! I have never heard of this brand but wow, what an incredible business idea. With there being a growing focus on healthy food options and organic alternatives, this is definitely a hot spot in the industry. A candy that cleans teeth, that is really neat. I loved how you explained the background to the inspiration of the business and then went into further detail as how the business took off. Really good job!
Very interesting. Whenever there is a problem like that, its interesting seeing how people find work arounds that lead to innovation.
