Murvah grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, so always hearing about their business stories inspired her and drove her desire to be one as well. It allowed her to start thinking at a young age how she could solve issues in her community through business. After attending King’s College in London, 25 year old Murvah and her now business partner Mathias Krieger started to notice the heavy pollution that diesel delivery vehicles were putting into the city. The pollution was not just hurting the environment but the amount of deaths that occurred each year resulting from these emissions was alarming and drove this team to find a solution. This is where HIVED was born. They are officially the biggest zero-emissions delivery fleet in the world. Murvah and Mathias and the rest of their team set to work doing lots of research and studies on many different delivery vehicles and found that the whole delivery system as a whole was very inefficient and low quality in general. So, now they decided to not only make a ecofriendly delivery company, but one that was set to a higher standard and much more efficient than the average delivery company. HIVED started in 2021, and now has been used by some really big companies like Nespresso, Grubby, and Candy Kittens. Not only that but they have acquired $2.4 million in investments and have used it to acquire multiple electric delivery vans and cargo bikes. Their story especially inspired me because of the huge undertaking it was to start a delivery company amid all of the other large delivery companies already out there, especially only being in their mid twenties. Murvah and her partner were told “Good luck” and had many reasons to be discouraged about their business since not many people saw potential in it. However, they didn’t let that discourage them from taking risks and doing something that they knew could really benefit people and their city. Now they have many satisfied customers and hope for much success in the future. As ecommerce continues to grow, so will their business once people realize the need and importance for ecofriendly delivery.
(It wouldn’t let me add a picture)
This is a great story. Once again, I see the common theme of a business starting with a problem that someone is passionate about and finding a way to solve it. It was also inspiration to see a business grow and defy the odds in an industry that already has a lot of heavy hitters.
This is an amazing story of how there are problems all around us, but great entrepreneurs are problem solvers. It’s a great concept of how realizing that heavy pollution caused by diesel delivery trucks can cause deaths because of the emissions and then finding a new way to create zero emission delivery fleets to solve that problem. It’s also pretty cool how big companies have switched over to use HIVED too.
