One day a little boy named Hart Main walked in his sister’s room. She had a candle in her room and the scent was very girly. He did not like the scent and wanted things to change. However, that may have not been his main motive. According to TimesReporter, he chose to start his own company so that he could buy a 1200-dollar bike to compete in a triathlon. His parents would not help him buy it and so he needed money to purchase it himself. So he started a candle company called Man Cans. His idea turned into a business and was focused on producing manly scented candles.
His product was spreading to family and friends. Eventually it even reached to other candle companies like Beaver Creek Candle Company. It also sold to over 150 stores across the United States. He even did a donation of food for good purposes to build up communities. As his company was grew, he used his wealth for good purposes. (TimesReporter).
At the beginning of his business, he came up with an idea to use cans for his candles. There was something more manly of the appearance of using a candle, also there are some many empty cans from purchasing soup and other food from the store. He grew his production by having reused cans and would polish them make candles out of them. This also helped fix a problem of reducing waste and coming up with new ways to use products. From this idea he gained much profit. He even extended his comapany MansCans to car scent candles which are available at several car shops.
In conclusion, this young entrepreneur was an example of finding a simple product and making it different. Using candles is unique, and also targeting men. He also found a way to reuse products which gave him much profit.
