Asia Newson is one of the world’s youngest Entrepreneurs. She is from Detroit and at just the age of 5, she witnessed her dad selling candles door to door and immediately wanted to try it. She soon caught on to the sales and pitching side of entrepreneurship. Even if you have a genius product but aren’t able to market it and sell it you will not be successful. That’s why mastering the sales side of a business similar to what Asia did is so important.
At 8 years old she started making and selling candles with her mom as a partner. Asia also wanted other young children to be able to start a business and make money so she started a training program teaching children to do just that. She called her businesses together “Super Business Girl.”
Asia was recognized on theGrio’s Top 100 list and also made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015. She was soon known all around the world and became in some ways a celebrity. People wanted to support her business. She also donated proceeds to needy children encouraging more people to want to be involved in her success.
It is incredible what such a young child can do when given the right tools. I love how her parents encouraged and let her engage with the business. It is so important that young kids feel like they are important and can make a difference and this story really shows the fruit of that.
It’s cool to think this eight-year-old girl wants to help how young kids start their businesses. If only everyone could be as thoughtful and impactful as Asia. It is also very impressive that even when people have begun to help Asia out with her business she continued to donate the proceeds.
