Did you know there’s a hip shoe on the market that is all about supporting entrepreneurs!?
After graduating from Clemson with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Mandarin, Hannah Davis flew to China to teach English to schoolchildren. During her time there, she was inspired by a fellow teacher whose zesty fashion sense often featured an overlooked fashion staple; she loved sporting simple canvas Chinese work shoes.
Hannah knew she’d like to introduce a similar sneaker to the US market. The name BANGS, which is the Mandarin word for help, embodies the mission of this unique social enterprise which aspires to empower and pour into the entrepreneurs- the world changers of tomorrow.
Today, BANGS turns out several colors and styles of shoes, each of which give 20% of profits in the form of loans to entrepreneurs. New entrepreneurs are being selected every month and to date, BANGS has funded 226 entrepreneurs in 49 countries.
Wear good. Support today’s dreamers, and tomorrow’s business-people. Shop BANGS.
These shoes look so comfy! I love how Davis graduated with a political science degree, yet did not end up in a “political science” field. It’s also pretty cool how she was inspired by another individual for this company. BANGS also sells some clothing too, which adds to the market. The fact that Davis is bilingual is super impactful for her company and the business world.
This is awesome! An entrepreneur that gives back to entrepreneurs. The shoes look pretty nice as well. It’s great to see people giving back with their products. I already wanted to study abroad, but now I’m thinking that it could be a great chance to view different cultures for innovative purposes. Thanks for sharing!
I love this! I want a pair. What a great social entrepreneurship idea! I like that the proceeds are used to fund micro-loans rather than just giving a pair of shoes to someone (like TOMS does for example). This way, entrepreneurs can be encouraged to start their own businesses!
This is an interesting company! I wonder how the loans are distributed and how the entrepreneurs are selected? It seems to me like there are many similar shoe companies out there, but very few have the mission to pursue the success of other entrepreneurs! Id be interested to see how this company does a few years down the road from now!
What a cool product! It’s always neat when companies can create a great product that also helps people. And Hannah Davis has such a cool story about how she became passionate about this. I also agree with Celeste, this company is able to help people a little more than Tom’s does.
This is an awesome way to help entrepreneurship thrive in our world. it creates a cycle of successful entrepreneurs and sets a great example of paying it forward for those that it helps
