One of the most successful young entrepreneurs of our time is Justin Bieber. He started out on YouTube where Usher eventually discover them. Since then, he has accomplished a lot. At only 23 years old, Justin is already worth $225 million. He has a large presence online with 102 million Twitter followers, 78 million Facebook likes and 92.1 million Instagram followers. He has a huge endorsement deal with Calvin Klein and has his own line of emoji’s (justmojis).
Justin isn’t a clean cut, perfect person, he has constantly come under fire for his certain acts and antics. Especially in his late teenage years, he was called to be kicked out of the US. He wasn’t treating is fans well (spitting on them, stopping concerts mid-song). But regardless of all this negative publicity, his brand still held strong, people still were going to his concerts, buying his products and listening to his music. In recent years, he opened up about his faith and actively changed his lifestyle and image, which has only strengthened his brand.
The bottom line: whether you love Justin Bieber or hate him, everyone has Bieber fever because he is a relevant opinion leader of our time and a strong entrepreneur.
I do find it very interesting how Justin Bieber was able to gain back his fans and publicity even after the “bad rep” that he was left with a couple of years ago. I think he’s a pretty good example of a young entrepreneur who didn’t give up on himself even though he made some bad decisions in the past.
I had never even thought of him as an entrepreneur before. It’s very true that the entrepreneurial mindset isn’t just starting a physical business or website, it can manifest itself in other ways as well.
I have recently starting thinking of certain celebrities as entrepreneurs. It’s true what you said–love him or hate him, he is a strong entrepreneur. He look advantage of his access to YouTube to showcase his talent and it paid off in a big way! I am interested to see what career moves he makes in the coming years.
I never would thought of Justin Bieber as an entrepreneur, but it makes sense. He amassed attention on YouTube as a singer, which paved the way to success. I remember listening to him when his name was still new in the music industry. Although I stopped listening to him, it’s amazing how much more successful he is now.
Glad another person is looking to the music industry for entrepreneurship with me! Good perspective Travis!
