Rachel Zietz a 15 year old girl who owns Gladiator Lacrosse. Gladiator Lacrosse aims to sell higher-quality, lower-cost equipment than competitors. Rachel realized over her many years of playing field hockey that her parents were spending hundreds of dollars every few months on new equipment for her. Her parents started to make her pay for her own equipment and she soon realized that as a young teenager she would not be able to keep up with these payments. “Whenever there’s a problem, that really means an opportunity,” she says. She created Gladiator Lacrosse as a middle school student in 2013. She developed the idea through Young Entrepreneurs Academy. She sells rebounders $159.95—a trampoline-like net wall used to practice throwing and catching skills—and goals $79.95 built to last a couple of years, primarily through her online store. When Zietz started the company, her goal was to sell 500 units total now she sells over 500 a month. Her products are also sold at retail stores. Last year she made over $1 million in profit. Rachel’s father helped her throughout her journey. She first started to sell her products at a booth at local lacrosse tournaments, she was very hesitant to go up to people and tell them about her product, but her father would give her advice telling her the customer does not know they are interested in the product until you show them the product. With the help of her father, she has become a bold young woman who is not afraid to tell people about her ideas and her product this includes a Together they launched an edition line of ultra-durable rebounders and goals. With her newfound confidence Zietz was even featured on last year’s season of Shark Tank.
Gladiator Lacrosse, Rachel Zietz’s endeavor, is truly inspirational! She hustled through Young Entrepreneurs Academy at the age of 15 after noticing a gap in the market for reasonably priced sports gear, and today, she’s killing it with over $1 million in profit. It’s a playbook for aspiring entrepreneurs that shows that grasping opportunities can make aspirations come true, rather than just a success story!
