Whether we like it or not, technology is becoming more and more a part of our everyday lives. It is shifting from an accessory to your day to day functions, to a necessity. It appears to be doing the same thing in the professional world as well. Websites, emails, apps, social media, etc. are all words that are becoming part of a business’s vocabulary.
Children are entering into this world needing to work with technology in order to survive. Adam Lipecz, a twenty-four year old entrepreneur, saw this need and created the most interesting toy on the market, Codie. This gadget is a small wooden robot that connects to a mobile device wirelessly to work with an app. The app allows the robot to move by teaching children how to code on an elementary level. From my understanding, there are “blocks” on the app the child would drag and place to get the robot to move a specific way. It seems to be a tangible way to show kids how to code on a very small level.
This is a very interesting post. I think it’s great that there are toys out there geared towards younger children to get them interested in coding. There are lots of opportunities for people who are familiar with technology and computer programming, so this is a great way to get children connected. Thanks for sharing!
It is amazing to me how much technology is now used to educate kids. Apps like these have changed the way people learn and hopefully this app can inspire the next generation of computer programmers.
They say to start children earlier in life rather than later, especially since it is so much easier for them to grasp concepts at this age. I always think of it as a way of teaching children languages, but never technology. It weird to think that in a few generations, technology will be integrated into every aspect of our lives and without teaching, it may become a type of foreign language if not exposed to it at an early enough age.
I love this. As our world continues to advance, the level of learning increases. Its awesome to see how young kids are already being taught to code. A toy such as Codie is an incredible idea. I can’t wait to see what educational toys are created in the future.
This is so neat! This makes coding seem fun to learn and to have visual results with this small robot is great! Great integration between technology and learning!
