“…Your favorite food from your favorite restaurant right to your door faster than anyone else.” This slogan is found at the end of a commercial video for Dashed. Dashed was founded in 2009 by Phil Dumontet as a food delivery service. Dashed, however, is not your ordinary delivery service. One of the things that make this company different is that they are environmentally conscience making the majority of their deliveries by bike, scooter, or smart car. Founder Phil Dumontet gives his piece of wisdom on the running of companies stating the importance of having something that you do well and being focused on doing that one thing best, because to do everything the best is often impractical. In the case of Dashed, they claim speed as this defining quality, with an average delivery time of forty-five minutes. With locations in several major cities in the northeastern portion of the country, Dashed delivers food from several hundred local and chain restaurants. Dumontet has also expanded Dashed to include delivery of other items such as Christmas trees. With the rapid expansion of Dumontet’s company, Dashed appears to have a large following that will last for some time.
It is great how they are a Eco-friendly delivery service. I also like how they work with restaurants to deliver food, they are not delivering their own food. This makes the process a lot simpler while still reaping the benefits!
Great post, Olivia! That’s really interesting that this company is not only eco-friendly but also very timely in their delivery. Thinking of some of the methods of transportation that you listed, those things are not normally used in delivery. Also, people might be more likely to use them because they are looking out for the environment. Interesting! Awesome post.
This is a really neat idea, because not only is it environmentally friendly, but it’s also cost efficient. Environmentally friendly modes of transportation tends to be less expensive in the long run, and Dashed also saves costs by delivering food from other restaurants, as opposed to creating their own. The concept is similar to Seamless, however I don’t believe that Seamless has the environmental aspect to their company.
In this fast-paced world this company is definitely fitting. So many times I’ve wanted take out from different restaurants, and this is a very unique and efficient resource I’ve never heard about! I also love that it is an eco-friendly company. That is definitely an aspect many customers will appreciate about a delivery business. Good post!
