De’Coldest Crawford is a Wide Receiver from Shreveport, Louisiana. His name alone has brought him social media fame from a young age, and his play on the field has given him an opportunity to make a living from it. Now a freshman at the University of Nebraska, De’Coldest has the ability to pursue NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals to make money while in college. De’Coldest, as ironic as it sounds, recently signed a deal with an Omaha-based air conditioning company, SOS Heating & Cooling. The deal involves him appearing in commercials and ads for the company, one of which has gone viral on the internet and has received over 5.2 million views. As an athlete, it is really cool to see other athletes my age branding themselves in a positive way and beginning to set themselves up financially for when they graduate from college. It is also a great way for Crawford to show a sort of professionalism in the way he handles himself and his assets he is receiving from this deal. The idea of these NILs is very interesting to me, being a collegiate athlete, because it is nearly impossible to have a job in or out of season because of my schedule, so NIL deals seem to me to be a great way for athletes to bring in a little extra money, food, or gear while at school.
I have seen all kinds of different things about De’Coldest Crawford and I love the name. I think a name it is a very unique way to market yourself. I have always wondered if he was born with that name or if he changed it in hopes of pursuing NIL deals. I think NIL deals have been such a great addition to amateur sports and they have added a whole new dimension to these sports. This was very well written.
