Dom’s journey into marine tourism was very interesting from start to end. After beginning his career as a scuba diving instructor, he gained valuable experience working in marine tourism at some of Australia’s most iconic destinations. While pursuing a Bachelor of Business & Innovation with a major in Tourism & Management at the University of Newcastle, Dom took a bold step and launched CoastXP at just 23 years old. Not much older than most of us.
“The idea came together over time,” Dom said. “I wanted to create a business that shared my passion for marine tourism while showcasing Newcastle and the Hunter region in a unique way.”
Through determination, will power, countless early mornings, and late nights, Dom has transformed CoastXP into a thriving business venture. Dom’s contributions to the local tourism industry have made tremendous impacts. He was recently honored as the 2023 Newcastle Young Citizen of the Year–a recognition of his role in boosting local tourism and supporting Newcastle’s economic recovery after the pandemic. Dom’s story is a testament to how passion, hard work, and community support can fuel the success of a young entrepreneur, and is a great example of the entrepreneurial mind.
