FEED is a non-profit organization that has had a major impact on the world in the past few years by providing over 50 million meals to those impoverished worldwide. The idea is straight forward, FEED manufactures and sells reusable bags that resemble feed fags with half of the proceeds going towards supplying food for the hungry.
Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafson co-founded the company in 2007 and recently established a partnership with the United Nations World Food Program and are pushing forward by producing more unique bags for people to purchase. Aside from bags, bracelets, backpacks, t-shirts and other things at the online store.
Ever since the company was launched, both have experienced much success. FEED projects has donated over 87 million meals to date through the sale of products and fundraising activations. With world hunger continuing to bolster in its rates, companies like FEED will provide those with the necessary everyday needs that otherwise wouldn’t reach them.
I really like how each product online tells you how many meals it provides when you buy it. It’s a really neat idea to combine fashion with hunger and having the exact number of meals provided by your purchase makes it really personal.
This is a neat mashup–reusing and feeding the hungry. The design of the bags is definitely a conversation starter. It is a clever design. I really like companies that also have a social cause. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention!
