In 2008, at the age of eight, Madison Nicole Robinson had FishFlops already in the making. She created a series of sea characters that eventually inspired her to make a line of flip flops featuring them. With the first design, saying “Look, dad! FishFlops!”, her dad purchased the domain name and it only grew from there!
At the age of 15, Madison already had Nordstrom ordering her flip flops, was featured on Yahoo’s homepage, and sold out of all retailers. She has now caught the eye of Fox and Friends, Inside Edition, Seventeen Magazine, ABC News, and many more.
The coolest thing about FishFlops is that Madison has donated over 20,000 pairs of FishFlops to various charities including: Shoes for Orphan Souls, Texas Children’s Hospital, Snowball Express Military Charity, and many more; and has impacted lives around the world in Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, and Africa. Finally, a portion of each sale of FishFlops will go directly towards helping protect some of the world’s most endangered animals.
I love the name of her company! So cute! So great that her Dad saw the potential of her idea and helped get her started. Thanks for sharing!
This seems like kind of a fun version of Toms. A Toms for the summer, not saying I would wear them, but they are pretty cool. I think this company could really tap into the collectible markets, or thrive in variation. I could see a model kind of like zoo pals.
It really is amazing what we are able to do today when it comes to finding new ways to help the people around us. If i were ever to start my own business venture i would hope to be able to help people in the process. Very cool idea.
