Hart Main, a 13-year-old who would tease his sister about girly scented candles, turned out to use that to spark up a very interesting business idea. Hart was very mature for such a young age; he came up with the name “ManCans” and he made a simple change in the scents to make it more manly so that it fulfilled his desires. His candles consist of many different scents, and they are created by using soup cans. His business has taken off and grown so much creating a lot of profit. The scented candles are sold in every state. Hart being a firm believer of giving back to the community, he donates to soup kitchens in multiple states across the country. This is very impressive for such a young entrepreneur, and it has spread country wide. With the help of Hart’s parents, this idea of his was able to be turned into a reality by selling manly scented candles to those in need. The parents have raised Hart in an incredible way, not all young kids would even be able to process an idea like this but let alone be successful in it while giving back to the community. Another important thing about Hart is all his candles are handmade at Beaver Creek Candle Company in Lisbon, Ohio, and they are not created by just normal everyday workers, but it is people who are diagnosed with developmental challenges. That is so amazing, he has opened more opportunities to others that face challenges daily to be a part of his very well constructed business. His candle business is simply one of a kind, he has a basic story that initiated it, and he has innovated in many ways by helping the society and growing the business itself.
This is such a cool idea! The fact that he expanded the market for candles to serve male customers shows he was thinking like an entrepreneur. He took a product that mainly targeted one demographic, tweaked it, and now serves another demographic. It’s also really impressive the growth he’s made with his business at his age. I also like how he employs people with developmental challenges, providing jobs to those who are not given many opportunities to work. So cool!
I think this is very interesting because I know most guys would never buy a candle for themselves. This kid is taking a product that already exists and is targeting a segment of the market that nobody else is. It’s also admirable how he’s incorporating a redemptive side to his company. Not trying to be pessimistic, but it does make me wonder if this was all Hart’s idea or if his parents are doing everything. If it was his idea, then that’s impressive for a 13-year-old!
This is a great encouragement to many young entrepreneurs. It’s remarkable how he first found the problem by suffering from it and then found a solution. He sounds like he’s not just trying to benefit himself from this company. His efforts to donate to soup kitchens and work with people with developmental disabilities reflect a lot on how he was raised and what he finds important. I wonder how involved his parents were in his company.
What an awesome idea to have a such a young age, he really amplifies what it means to me a young entrepreneur. Its brilliant they way he used soup cans to make his brand and how he gives back to soup kitchens through his company. I think it’s a great how he put his own spin on candles– something that is usually very girly– by making them manly. overall, Hart seems like a great young entrepreneur and I’m hoping his company continues to grow.
