Nick Friedman and Omar Soliman are the co-founders of College Hunks Hauling Junk, a company they started while they were still in college. I picked them because I have alot of interest in labor work, and their story really shows how you can turn hard work into a successful business.Their idea came about when Omar had to write a business plan for a college competition. He thought of a junk removal and moving service that people could trust. He called Nick, his childhood friend, and they decided to actually make it happen. They started small with just one van, doing the hauling jobs themself. At first, they mainly helped people get rid of junk or move items they didn’t need. The physical labor was tough, but they believed in their idea and kept working hard. One thing that makes their story interesting is that they didn’t just focus on junk removal. They also wanted to change how people think about customer service in the moving industry. They made sure the people they hired were friendly, professional, and trustworthy, which wasn’t always the case in the industry. Their approach worked, and now College Hunks Hauling Junk has grown into a national brand with franchises across the U.S. I really like their story because it shows how two young guys with a simple idea and alot of hustle could create something big. Their business took off because they were willing to do the hard, physical work themself at first, and they focused on offering great service. It’s inspiring to see how they started from scratch and turned their labor into a huge company.
I really enjoyed your post and how you chose it based on your own interests. This post focuses on how hard work can take you places, and how there doesn’t always need to be some extravagant new idea, but simply taking a business and making it better. I really liked how part of Omar’s and Nick’s business model was making sure they hired friendly, professional, and trustworthy people to work for them. This definitely would make their business standout in the moving industry and may have led them to experiencing high success. Great job!
I agree with you on the point of using labor and hard work to run a successful business and these guys really demonstrate that! It’s great to learn how they actually got in this venture and how a small idea of moving junk became a national business. I also like their plan on hiring trustworthy people. In the past I have helped people move and sometimes the moving guys where not the best so trustworthiness is something I appreciate. Overall I think this is a great post, and the name is kind of funny as well.
