Amanda Taylor is a millennial entrepreneur who found an innovative way to make a dance business. The typical dance entrepreneur opens a studio, but Taylor’s endeavor was unique. Taylor started up the company DanceOn, which makes dance videos to new songs in order to help them gain popularity. Some examples of songs made popular by this company are “Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae), “Lean and Dab,” and “Hit the Quan.” Taylor was a musical theater major, and she worked as a dancer and choreographer manager before she quit that job and began her role as CEO of her company DanceOn. The business was launched in 2011, and it consists of a network of over 1,300 dance groups who are utilized in the creation of the dance videos. Madonna is a co-founder of this business. Taylor’s business was not only innovative in the dance world, but also in the music world, as it provided a new way to help songs gain popularity.
Taylor has more recently expanded in her business ventures by starting up a new company called Izo. Like DanceOn, Izo works to aid songs in gaining popularity, however it does not use dancing as its primary means of doing so.

This is such a cool business idea! I think its neat how she explains in the video that she found a gap in the niche market she was involved in and how she was able to fill that gap! I also think its pretty cool how she dove in with no idea of how it would go by quitting her job and starting this business just in her apartment with the resources she had, but how she was also able to market, network, and get Madonna on board as a partner.
This is really really cool! What a unique approach in a business idea, to create a business to help another market gain popularity. Also, it is super cool how she was able to see the link between dance and music and they way the two can collaborate and build off of one another. SHe is super creative!
