Fraser Doherty:
At age 14 Fraser Doherty started his business by making jam with his grandma’s jam recipe with her in Scotland. He made a twist on jam. Most jams are made with artificial flavor and other bad ingredients, so he wanted to make jam 100% out of fresh fruit. He named His product SuperJam. At age 16, he took his product of jams to big supply stores, and he pitched his product to them for them to sell his product in their stores. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the UK. This website provides Fraser’s story, and the blog says, “Fraser has been commended by the Prime Minister at Downing Street, by HRH Prince Charles and was recently awarded a medal (MBE) “for services to business” by The Queen.” https://www.fraserdoherty.com/pages/about-usHe has also written a book called, “SuperBusiness” and “48 Hour Startup”, and it is published in multiple counties. Additionally, he is the Co-founder of “Beer52”. This man is a success, and he is creative and diverse in his focuses. He has created Jam, written books, and co-founded a beer company. On top of all of this, his company provides funds to charitable initiatives. For example, they run over 100 tea parties for people who are elderly. The Scottish charity called The SuperJam Tea Parties is run by Mr. Doherty. We can learn from Mr. Doherty’s innovative spirit and creative drive.
That is really amazing that Doherty started a business at the age of 14! Aside from that, I think the most impressive part is how long he stuck to it. It took 2 years before his product hit big market places. While this might seem like a short time, especially compared to other things, it’s a slow process day after day.
On a separate note, I think it’s amazing that so many entrepreneurs nowadays often aim for charity in some form or fashion. While I’m sure there is tax benefits, I doubt that’s true for everyone.
His success is remarkable and his product is so simple. Sometimes I feel entrepreneurs are pushed to think too big when a solution is simple and right in front of them. Fraser Doherty did exactly that appealing to a small niche with a simple product. His determination is also very encouraging as often these projects take a long time to start up but he stuck with it. I also find it amazing that he even wrote his own books.
Nice post! Fraser made a great idea at just sixteen years old, and has not stopped innovating since. It is amazing how Fraser started with a twist to jam, and now how written two books and became a co-founder of a beer company. Fraser is an inspiration to never stop innovating!
Fraser Doherty is really impressive because he turned something as simple as jam into a remarkable business. I like how he originally made jam with his grandma, because it shows how he grew into the business idea. He shows that you do not have to have a huge idea in order to be successful. I also think it is cool that he has been recognized by the Royal Family. Ultimately, Fraser is a good young entrepreneur because he was able to capitalize on a problem he saw in a unique way.
I loved reading this post! Doherty’s story is truly inspiring and extremely innovative. I enjoyed reading about how he ties charity work with excellent food, and writing his own books as well. Doherty could see how many jams were made with unhealthy additives and he found a solution to that problem. Since he’s also from Scotland, he could see how there is probably a demand for good and healthy jam as well as beer. I’m so glad to learn about Fraser Doherty – I hope to actually order some of his jams now!
