Jordan Urbach has such an interesting and different story behind his success as a young entrepreneur. He is a 22 year old that had made a name for himself early on in his life. At just seven years old, he became famous for being the first seven year old to ever play in Carnegie Hall. He had a talent for music, and more specifically, playing the violin.
At only 17, he was attending Yale and doing great things. Just recently, he launched a video app called Ocho that apparently has Vine on edge. This idea is revolutionary. The app is a combination of the concepts from Snapchat, Vine, and Facebook. What I mean by that is this; it is an app that uses 8-second video clips to tell a story. People who use this app are able to construct profiles made up of these videos as well as respond to other friend’s videos. It is a very new and developing concept. The entire focus around the platform is the 8 second video (hence the name “Ocho”).
Jordan has had a very interesting life and will surely carry that into any business ventures he has. The concept of his app is something that uses key concepts from other popular platforms, yet, is considered a new idea. In a world that is rapidly moving toward communication via media such as picture and video, this app is something that can catch fire on the horizon.
This is a great example of piecing together different platforms together in a new way. He has a great story and a great idea and I hope it takes off. All of those social media platforms have been successful on their own, so it makes sense to take what people love most about each and make a brand new platform. Great post!
Great example of a making an innovation on a product that was already there. I love when products have the ability to move in and improve an already saturated market.
