“Pass the aux” may soon be a phrase of the past. With a new app on the market called Juke, users can turn their phone into an SMS fueled music que. The developer of this app is 16 years old. His name is Rithwik. It is super easy to use and great for long car rides or studying. While to app is open friends can text the user’s phone number a song they want to hear and it will be added to the play que on the users phone. With this new technology college students no longer have to fight about what song to play next. Everybody gets a say as to what song gets added to the playlist. With the free version of the app each song gets played through YouTube. If user would like to pay for the premium version of the app they can utilize either their Spotify Premium or Google Play Music subscription so that songs may be played through those apps.
I think this is a great idea! I am excited for updates and improvements on the app, but from experience, the app works quite well. I do find Spotifiy’s ability to create a shared playlist more beneficial to me. Yet, I see a great future for this app. especially when it comes to coffee shops or even our SAC on campus. I believe that students will find this app useful. And eventually coffee shops and other businesses.
This is really a brilliant idea. People often have the problem of arguing over which song to play next, or one person controlling the music. Instead of that, with this app, everyone is able to have a say in the music and have their song played. There is definitely a wide range of uses for this app, just like there are many places that people listen to music. Things like parties, study groups, and restaurants all play music. It would be great if the listeners were able to choose the music, so instead of just one person picking songs that fit their taste, there is a variety of music which makes everyone happy.
