Troy Kumprey created a Ladder Lockdown saddle after one of his employees fell from a ladder while working. Kumprey saw the dangers that normal ladders have so he wanted to create something that would make ladders safer and guarantee his employees would return to their families each night. So Kumprey created a versatile setup that accommodates extension ladders up to seven meters and most A-frames up to 1.8 meters. Ladder Lockdown is adaptable to hard soft surfaces, from concrete to wood to snow. Ladder Lockdown reduces lateral movement. Kumprey saw a problem and need that should be filled, he took a problem and created a solution. Kumprey also found a niche market for his product; construction, homeowners, and firefighters can relate to ladder safety. Ladder Lockdown saves lives and forever changed how ladders are used. Kumprey turned a dangerous tool into a safer for everyone to use. Here is a link to Ladder Lockdown website to learn more about the product, mission, and Troy Kumprey’s story:
It’s inspiring to see an employer who takes the time to invent something that will ensure the safety of his workers. In this case he is able to then turn the invention around and sell it for a profit creating the best of both worlds.
This is an excellent example of how an idea doesn’t necessarily have to be massive in scale to be successful. Kumprey saw a need in a very specific area, found a way to solve it, and became successful in sticking with this specific solution. I think a problem a lot of entrepreneurs have is a “go big or go home” mentality with regards to the scale of their ideas when a small scale idea could still result in success.
Great idea! Has a life saving factor to it. Really all around a cool product for anyone.
This is a great idea, and everyone was definitely in need of the product. Definitely will be good for workers, or even just people working from home. I think companies that use ladders will really be able to benefit from this.
This product is a great invention that will save many from serious injuries. As I worked construction this summer I realized that many things we have done especially on ladders are not always the safest thing and that falling would certainly bring a lot of pain and probably injury. Ladder Lockdown would be great for unstable and or frequent ladder users.
I know several people that were hurt falling off ladders so this definitely would be beneficial to all who spend most of their days on a ladder.
Super interesting idea that solves a problem that is extremely common but does not get enough attention. I love that this man is using his entrepreneurial mind to help prevent something that can be potentially life-threatening. This product will be super helpful for people that work in construction, by making the process easier and safer. Great post.
As someone who does construction and is on a ladder three to four hours a day I love this. the opportunity to be safer while on the job is a big importance to me especially when I typically have to keep my hands free while I am working on the job I will certainly look into getting one great work.
