Layups for Lucy is a non-profit organization that donates all proceeds to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. This is actually an organization that was created in my hometown, and I have been blessed to be able to be so involved. When Grace Beal was still young, her little sister Lucy died from congenital heart failure. In order to give back to the hospital that had helped her sister through this hard time, Grace asked her seventh grade basketball coaches if they could do an event to raise money. She raised almost $6,000 that year.
Layups for Lucy is a great event that brings our community together in ways we never imagined. the event is hosted at my high school, and brings in hundreds of people from all over the county. Since 2014, the organization has raised nearly $100,000 for the Children’s Hospital. I am truly blessed to be apart of such a giving organization, and I’m sure my friends can say the same.
This is such an inspiring store. When something is so close to your heart like this it makes it all the more important. I live in Pittsburgh and have been involved at the Children’s Hospital and I love that this organization donates back to it.
Wow. What a great idea and beautiful way to get the community involved. I think it is very cool that we are so close to something that is nation-wide now. With the Children’s Hospital being such a big part of the community I am joyed to see that so many people take part in helping out people who have had a rough life.
That is such an amazing and beautiful idea! Love how the event brings so many people together in the community! That’s amazing how they have raised that much money to give back to the Children’s Hospital!
