Lily, a 11-year-old entrepreneur witnessed her grandfather struggle with Parkinson’s. She noticed that he kept spilling his drinks due to the complications of the disease. Lily found a solution known as the Kangaroo cup. The Kangaroo cup has three legs to avoid tipping over. Lily and her father perfected the design, outsourcing manufacturing from China. Now at age 16, Lily has her own company called Imagiroo LLC. Lily’s Kangaroo cup has sold tens of thousands of units, and can be found in retailers as well as her company website. At a young age, Lily found a small solution, that helps fix a large-scale problem, as millions of families deal with the complication of having a loved one with Parkinson’s.
Wow, I like that Lily found a solution to a typical problem that her grandfather experiences. In a way, she personally was affected by this problem and knew it needed a solution. She did all this at such a young age and now has so much experience at age 16. Her cup not only benefits people all over the world with Parkinson’s, but it’s helpful for many other special needs as well as kids. Such a simple, unique design brought so much good to the community.
I love her thought process throughout the situation with her father, and how her first instinct was to make a product that would help him and others. Her idea has a clear purpose that can help a wide audience, which is those who have special needs or kids, and its simplicity makes the product so effective and refreshing. She used her own experience to explain how this has helped not only her, but someone she cares about.
