Moziah Bridges a young entrepreneur started Mo’s Bows. At the age of 9, Moziah was having a hard time finding a job that best suited him. He noticed a good fabric not being used by his grandmother from past sewing projects. With the help of his grandmother, he learned how to sew. With this problem in mind, he took the fabric that he like to find the bow that best suited him. After a successful prototype and gratification, he decided to start his own business to sell his own bows. He hired tailors and focused on the creative side of the business sides.
He appeared on SharkTank, his business is thriving more than ever selling more than just bows! One summer he even did a scholarship for a kids’ summer camp.https://mosbowsmemphis.com/
This is a great example of adaptive reuse/upcycling. He identified one of his own needs—finding a bow that “fit” him—and found free unused materials to fill that need. I also think that it is cool that he is expanding his business and investing in others through camps and scholarships.
It is really impressive seeing what an eight-year-old has accomplished. At that young age he was able to identify an opportunity from an issue he personally had building a sustainable business. The use of reusable materials and his investment into camp and ministries is also remarkable.
This story is so neat. You really see the entrepreneur come out in this story and in this given situation. I like to see the idea of upcycling or giving new purpose to older items. I like that this business was started with their grandma and how it has found success and growth. Great job!
