At the young age of 9, dressing sharp was very important to Moziah Bridges, although, he found that it was tough to find suitable bowties that complimented his style. As a solution to his problem, and to the people experiencing this same issue, he decided to make his own bowtie company called Mo’s bows in 2011. Bridges began by first learning to sew from the leftovers of his grandmother’s sewing projects. Soon his business took off and was beginning to be sold in retail stores and online shops. Eventually his business got successful to the point where he was able to hire tailors so he could focus on the creative and business sides.
Eventually, Bridges took his business to Shark Tank in hopes of getting funding and a manufacturer for his project. Although he didn’t walk away from the show with a deal, his idol, Daymond John, promised to mentor him in entrepreneurship strategies. Now at 20 years old, Bridges has sold more than $700,000 in handmade men’s ties and even accessories. Places like Cole Haan, Bloomingdale’s, and Neiman Marcus now carry his products.
Moziah Bridges also started a charity that sends Memphis kids to summer camp called the Go Mo Summer Camp Scholarship Fund. Today, this organization has helped to send more than 50 kids to summer camps. Overall, Moziah Bridges’ story is an inspirational tale of a young entrepreneur bootstrapping with resources available to him and something he is passionate about to create a successful business.
I’ve never heard of this company before but it was really cool to learn about such a young entrepreneur. It’s great to see how someone so young can work hard and create a successful business through creativity and innovation. Good job!
I like the way he didn’t make a successful deal at Shark Tank but continued to pursue hard work within his company and in the end became successful. I like the name Mo’s Bows and the way he started small using his mom’s leftovers at such a young age, to later having a great business.
It is interesting how Moziah took something he was interested in at age 9 and turned it into a company. I also like how he went away from shark tank. He was not discouraged at not making the deal but ready to keep working. Now he is already extremely successful at age 20.
