Noa Mintz like so many others grew up with a nanny. Her parents would hire nannies to watch her and her siblings but they all simply seemed uninterested in the children that they were being paid good money to care for. Realizing this and eager to have a better nanny, she took matters into her own hands. Her parents let her select the next babysitter and soon she began helping friends and family select their caregivers. She saw a demand for a New York nanny agency that would provide caregivers that were carefully selected and represented the personality vibe that families deserve. At age 15, three years after the founding of her business “Nannies by Noa,” she had over 75 employees on her staff.
Noa found a niche in the market that was very personal to her. She learned how to design a website, purchase insurance, preform background checks and meet demands of hundreds of parents. After rapidly rising demand she found herself extremely busy and with high school approaching, she hired a manager to oversee day to day operations. In three years time she was able to create a well known caregiving company in New York that now generates her a salary of over $300,000 a year with the 15% initial matched caregiver salaries.
It is incredible that a 12 year old girl could create such a successful multimillion dollar business by acting on her idea. So often are children told that they cant do something real and then this discourages them from taking initiative to innovate our society.
This is awesome! Very well written. I really enjoyed reading this post. I think it’s insane how a 12 year old was so successful with starting a profitable and reliable organization! No mind is too young to start innovating!!!
Wow! What a story! The entrepreneur you chose is very inspiring in regards to how successful she was at such a young age. It definitely makes you wonder what next great idea will come from such a child who simply observes their surroundings.
Very interesting article! This story definitely shows that entrepreneurship isn’t limited to a certain age! Noa was able to see an unmet need and rose to the challenge which I find very inspiring.
This is a fascinating story and shows how even young people can have the skills to be entrepreneurs. It is very inspiring that her own personal experience led her to thinking of this idea. The fact that she saw a demand for the NY nanny agency and was willing to try to solve it reflects her creativity and problem solving skills.
That is cool how Noa’s parents let her choose her own nannies. I imagine that by them giving her that responsibility grew in her an ability to be responsible in more things, such as starting the nanny service.
I think it is so impressive how Noa found a niche and learned the skills to be a successful entrepreneur at such a young age! Her idea is very innovative and could be very useful for busy families with young children. I have a lot of personal experience babysitting and being a nanny, and I feel that this business could be helpful in this market, which has seen little innovation in the past several years.
I was thinking about how many more hoops to jump through she would have than an average adult. It would be so hard to get credentials and most importantly trust from the parents hiring them and the people working for her. It would be so odd to be employed by a 12 year old! Just think when you are applying for another job and they ask for previous employers and the kid is like 15! I think that would be an interesting story.
This is a really inspirational story because it proves that it does not matter who you are or how old you; if your idea is good, you can still be very successful! I also think it is interesting because her idea was innovative in a way, but it isn’t like she’s the first person to start a business revolving around giving their people their choice in nannies, she just did it better. Even though her idea as just improving the idea of a nanny business, she made it much more personal and really catered to the consumer, which made her product very appealing.
