Mandy Person started a personal training business as a single mother. She would travel over an hour away, with her son, to client’s houses to train them. However, as time passed and she was able to acquire additional clients, she was able to save for equipment and build a fully functioning gym in her basement, where she now trains 3-5 clients a day, for one hour each.
Person stands to be an inspiration to mother’s who may be struggling to make ends meet or have dreams they are trying to chase while also raising children. Being persistent and having the willingness to work hard can really go a long way. Not only was Mandy able to reach her goal of having a personal training business from within her home, but her dream was something that helps others to better themselves. She was willing to sacrifice time and energy with her child, in order to travel to another’s home. In order to save up enough money, to welcome people into her home, to train and assist in them being better versions of themselves.
As I have learned to love the gym and being active in sports, this was extremely inspiring to me. Working hard comes with a lot of hidden sacrifices, especially for mothers who hold great responsibility. This example holds great meaning and encouragement to many people who face challenges in starting up a business.
This is a great post! I would like to use entrepreneurship to start a business I can run from home when I’m a mom, so this is very inspiring to me. I like what you said about how working hard comes with sacrifices, that’s a very good point. Overall, what Lillian did was definitely innovative, and I enjoyed reading about her story. Great job!
You took a lot out of context here and I don’t appreciate that, so let me clear up any confusion about my mom you may have:
1) She never sacrificed time with me to quote “make ends meet” I actually traveled with her, and she was very involved in my life.
2) She is also not a single mother. My dad is very involved in my life and with my family and they are happily married to this day. It just so happened my dad also worked long hours. He was the one that supported my mother the most and really helped out where he could.
3) Overall, I don’t apricate you are writing about someone you have very little and limited information on and then adding what you think. If you would like to learn more about my mom and her business feel free to ask, but please don’t add information you do not know about. Thank you!
