Vlog Creations, a Youtube channel owned and operated by Charles Ross, creates some of the best videos I have seen on Youtube. Charles routinely does unique pranks, such as filling his PC with beans and hiring a repairman to come and fix it. He’s also done pranks such as (safely) putting a bear in his living room and hiring an exterminator to remove it, while pretending that he thinks it’s just a raccoon. He has a genuine personality and goes on many tangents with his friends. They’ll talk about either really stupid topics or get into heavy philosophical ones. No matter the video, I’ve never been disappointed and watch his videos all the way through.
He doesn’t judge anyone and is so kind to everyone he sees. If he causes someone trouble in one of his pranks, he makes sure to pay them for participating or doing something else to fully remedy the issue. He talks about past mistakes that he has made and he is very open with his personal life. I also respect that he doesn’t attach himself to earthly possessions. He has plenty of nice things – including a nice house, ATVs, dirt bikes, and nice cars. But he only uses them for fun and isn’t overly protective over them. His nonchalant attitude about possessions seems like such a liberating mindset and it’s been encouraging to learn from him.
He has 3 million subscribers, but he doesn’t let his fame get to his head. He’s very humble about his success, and he prefers just having a good time with his friends. He says the primary purpose of his channel is “to provide entertainment through a balance of comedy, courage, creativity, and consideration in a consistent manner.” He does this profoundly well, and that’s why he is one of my favorite people to watch on Youtube.
That is crazy to me to think that a youtuber can make as much money as he does. To me he sounds a lot like David Dobrik, who has a lot of money and spends it on fun pranks and giving most of it away. I wonder how long a youtube carrier like his will last until he either runs out of money, gets too old, or looses interest in pranking.
People really underrate youtubers for their creativity and the way that they are able to entertain people. You can tell that Charles is very passionate about this idea which one of the reasons people watch it.
Good point about not letting his fame get to his head. I feel like some YouTubers do, which hurts their image and makes them less popular. Shows how consumer perception has a lot of impact.
I think the job of a youtuber is not thought of as seriously as it should in the sense that people tend to overlook all the hard work that goes into each video. It is truly a form of art.
