Sam and Oliver are best friends and in 2015 when they were in the 5th grade, they realized a problem that they and all the other kids had, and they sought to resolve it. When Oliver and Sam had their reoccurring issue, they came up with the idea while eating ice cream off an ice cream cone. The issue they had was that if you eat your ice cream too slowly, it will drip everywhere. The invention they came up with to make this problem an issue of the past is the Dip Drop. The Drip Drop is an edible ring that you slide onto your ice cream cone to catch the melting ice cream that drips off the cone. Sam and Oliver put their invention to the test in a school invention competition. After winning second place in the competition, they requested a patent for their design and within 3 years they got one.
The product leads the boys to Shark Tank where they received $50,000 for 33% of the company from Barbara Corcoran. Although Barbra said she would only do this if they could get a licensing deal, which they couldn’t at the time.
Their products are now sold in various local ice cream shops, and with their statistics of future revenue will sky-rocket in the coming years.
This is such a fun and neat idea that just makes you wanna try it out. I think that you are never too old to eat ice cream but I think that it is so on brand for these young boys to create an invention to improve your ice cream eating experience. It’s such a simple idea which in a way makes you think about what else is such a simple idea that could be so innovative and revolutionary in any particular field. Great job and thank you for sharing!
