M3 girls designs was created by the three Bradshaw women Maddie, Magrot , and their mom. Maddie ran into the the problem when entering the 5th grade of not being able to find any cute locker magnets. Maddie and her mom and sister started brainstorming and came up with “Snap Caps” which are bottle caps that are magnetic and have cute designs on them.
Maddie brainstormed and also made the “Snap Caps” into necklaces! So these fashionable bottle caps can be worn around by all the time. Maddie’s product has become famous and featured on the Disney Channel show Shark Tank. Maddie has also published a book on how other young entrepreneurs can start a business like she did.
Maddie and her family are a great example of young entrepreneurs. She saw a need as simple as finding creative locker magnets and transforming them into a creative product. M3 won the Creative Child Award in 2009 and it will be great to see what M3 does in the future.
Sweet and simple idea, and yet so innovative! Amazing how ideas can develop so quickly and be marketed to a variety of groups, such as Disney and Shark Tank! Thanks for sharing!
This kind of reminds me of those Jibbitz that were hot a few years ago for Crocs. They same quirky innovation and appeal to younger audiences. Yet this idea is much more sustainable that Jibbitz since school lockers aren’t a fad that will fall away in a few years. They’re personable, adorable, and can be catered to any age group and both genders. Easy to make and cheap to produce, Snap Caps are a better Jibbitz.
This just goes to show how there are definitely problems that I haven’t considered . . . A world without cute locker magnets? Impossible! But seriously, I think it’s great that she found a market, I just never would have thought of an idea like this–probably because I’m a guy, and I don’t have a locker to decorate.
