For a lot of guys playing video games is a nice way to waste time and put off responsibilities. What if you could take your interest and grow it into an 8 figure value company? Andy “Reginald” Dihn, the own of Esports organization TSM has accomplished such a feat. Andy started TSM as a competitive League of Legends team to win prize money from tournaments, but early on he recognized that the real money wasn’t in the prize money. Andy instead focused on building a brand and bringing in the sponsorship money. His brand is currently sponsored by Geico, Gillette, Logitech, HTC, Red Bull, HyperX, CyberPowerPC, and his brand’s primary site to stream on Twitch.TV. Through streaming, playing, and sponsorship Andy has earned himself an estimated personal net worth of 1.5 million dollars. However his real value lies in the holdings of his company.
Andy’s Company owns several domains that have multi-million dollar valuations Probuilds.net, Champion.gg, and LolCounter.com. These combined holdings have a combined valuation of more than $20 million due to how frequently they are used by the League of Legends community. His brand of TSM itself was estimated to be worth almost $28 million in late 2015.
Andy stands as a titan in the esports world but what is especially impressive is how a guy who only graduated high school was able to navigate himself to owning a brand worth over 8 figures and is one of the most recognizable brands in the online community.
very interesting how you can combine interests and entrepreneurship
Definitely an interesting post especially considering the creator built this from the ground up to now being worth 8-figures. Very impressive. Good post!
It’s pretty cool how someone can use an activity that people normally use for fun and transform it into a very successful business that has a different purpose!
Social Media platforms have opened up new ways for people to make money and Andy is no exception. Youtubers, Instagram influencers bloggers are becoming millionaires through the brands they create and the products they promote. Anyone can become an influencer and all they need is a following. Great article.
Twitch is something that I personally use to talk to my friends. It is helping Andy out a ton with his company and I’m glad to see that something like Esports is getting recognized by people and getting a name for itself. Great use of time and money!
I love video games, and am one of those guys who uses it to “put off my responsibilites”, but i never knew just how big eSports was until i read this article. It is very inspiring to know that even a passion for something like video games can be integrated into entrepreneurship.
This is a fantastic example of how you can turn something you love into a business idea. It really opened up my eyes to see how big the world of Esports really is.
A great example of turning your passion into a business and not letting limited traditional education stop him. He solved a problem by using his passion and has been rewarded for it.
It’s always cool to see how someone can take something some many people love, like video games, and turn that into a booming business. The best ideas come about through passion, and this is definitely a great example of this.
Impressive that he did this with a high school education! Just goes to show that you can accomplish your goals if you have the drive, it just depends on what avenue you want to take.
