George Matus began flying drones when he was 12 years old. He flew everything that he could get his hands on. He became frustrated with what was on the market, He was wanting more out of the drones. So by the time George was 16, He had the idea of creating his company Teal. George was a visionary for drone racing, He wanted to create a drone that could fly 70 mph. That is what he set out to do. Teal drones has drones that can reach speeds of 80 mph at this point. But at the beginning George wanted to build fast durable drones that could help create a bigger community of drone racers. Drone racing was a small market before Teal, this is because to compete racers would need to build their own drone or tinker with other models to increase the speed of the drone. George wanted to have a drone company that a racer could pull it out of the box and be competitive in the world of drone racing. These ideas led him to be on the forefront of a growing community that he helped create with his company Teal drones.
I wrote one of my blog posts on Teal Drones, and I have to say that I really to love the idea. Super fun commercial drones that can take video and fly at highway speeds.
I had never heard of drone racing until now but I must say that this is a really neat idea! This is a really unique way to create some fun in the space of drones!
Trying to even imagine a drone going 8o miles per hour is a little hard to wrap my mind around. Drone racing is an insane sport and I have no idea how they do it. It’s interesting to see how innovation happens in different industries as everything gets faster, lighter, and easier to use.
