Josh Feinsilber was in high school when he first had the idea for Gimkit. While brainstorming for a new high school project, he came across the quiz game Kahoot. This sparked an idea in his mind. He realized that the concept behind Kahoot had the potential to be a powerful teaching tool. With much effort and the help of a few other students in his high school, Josh created Gimkit.
Gimkit is a fun quiz learning application that allows teachers to create different “kits” that they can use to help students learn and memorize information. The platform has proven to be an incredibly useful learning tool for many teachers, with the ability to raise student test scores by as much as 14 percent.
Since its creation, Gimkit has grown rapidly and now has about three million users across 100 countries. In 2019, Josh Feinsilber had a projected net worth of $400,000.
Although Josh graduated from high school in 2019, he continues to work as the founder of Gimkit. His passion for helping students learn and teachers teach remains strong, and he continues to dedicate himself to improving the educational experience through Gimkit.
This is a sweet idea! I know people learn best in many different ways and at different speeds. I think it is a great idea to create a platform that can be personalized by the teacher for that specific class and it can also help kids that are visual learners. Sometimes lectures are not beneficial to kids who have to see it and interact with the information that they are learning. Audible learners are at a bit of an advantage in the educational system if the teachers do not create interactive ways to help kids learn. I think Gimkit is a great way to improve memory and improve learning altogether!!
Thanks for sharing Feinsilber’s story! I used to love Kahoot throughout middle school and high school. I still do, although I rarely ever see it in college. It’s awesome to see that he was able to find a new way to gamify learning and that he’s even got evidence to back it up, raising test scores by 14%. That’s significant! I hope he can keep up with Gimkit and continue to be successful throughout life with such an entrepreneurial spirit.
