The Bullpen has been one of the most successful pitching training facilities in Northern Virginia for the past decade. They have produced over 200 college pitchers, seven of whom played in the Big Leagues. The founder, Zach Dials, played with the Blue Jays and the Nationals organizations for seven years. In 2009, Zach started pitching instruction to a handful of young pitchers in a rented-out facility. Since then, the Bullpen has acquired its own high-tech training facility in Sterling, Virginia. John Ghyzel, former bullpen trainee and Cincinnati Reds pitcher, joined Zach in running the Bullpen after injuries ended his professional career in 2021. Zach and John are extremely high-level pitchers and experts in pitching mechanics. They use the latest tools to analyze pitchers’ mechanics and power. Using the results from the tools, they give specific drills and movements to each player to improve them. Many of the training tools they use are what the professionals use. They also invented some of their own training tools. They are constantly building and experimenting with new training devices. They develop new drills that work well to fix complex mechanical issues. In addition to pitching, the Bullpen offers advanced strength training, armcare, mobility, and a knowledge of exercise science. Pitchers who work hard at the Bullpen will see results. Membership is unlimited, allowing athletes to come in as much as they want. Zach and John are passionate about what they do, so they have such a successful business and continue producing great pitchers. I really like the model of the Bullpen because they use the tools that already work, while continually developing new innovative ways to train pitchers.
This is a great article. I really liked how the owners are always innovating and finding the newest and best ways to get their athlete’s results. The unlimited part of The Bullpen is a really nice feature. If I were a pitcher I would totally use this kind of service.
