From a young age Austin Jose had found a passion for extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, trampolining, flipping, and cliff jumping. As he a grew a new passion formed for filming and documenting his experiences.
Austin first entered the world of videography as middle schooler when he started the Instagram account SwishDoctorz, which was an account him and his friends used to post basketball trick shots. One particular shot went viral being posted on Instagram accounts such as House Of Highlights and WorldStar. From here he started a YouTube channel posting videos like vlogs, trampoline videos, and travel videos. This was a place where he did the bulk of his postingĀ into his sophomore year of high school.
Austin found he could turn this into a career where he then began partnering with small companies such as Earth Bands, creating advertisement videos that they could use across different platforms. From here he moved to filming music videos for small local artists, as well as doing real estate photography landing some amazing jobs in the Hamptons, New Jersey, and even Bermuda. Finding these ways to make money while doing the thing he loves most was all he could ask for in a career. As his name and portfolio grows he decided to turn down division one football scholarships and take a gap year from school and see if he can financially make his dream come true.
With the large amount of work that Austin was doing he has not had time to make videos he wants to anymore. That all changed this summer as between work projects he created his biggest personal project yet, a video talking about his life and love for filming. It is a documentary titled “Through My Eyes” that he plans to turn into a series as he goes through the different “chapters” in his life. With an unreal drive to succeed and inspire others Austin is bound to make it in the film industry.
If anyone has taken the advice to “chase your dreams” it is Austin.
I think Austin exemplified what it means to be an entrepreneur by turning down D1 football scholarships. An entrepreneur has to be passionate about their business to succeed, and I think it requires a lot of dedication to film to turn down a D1 offer. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has an exceptional career in film, as his decision making thus far has shown that he truly cares about what he is pursuing.
