Theranos is a company started by Stanford drop out Elizabeth Holmes. The company has created a product that allows for a painless blood draw. The product is being introduced in drug stores like Walgreens. Predictions are being made that this will alter the healthcare industry as a whole as this new way to draw and test blood will most likely become mainstream, and standard in the near future.
Elizabeth Holmes is 31 years old and is worth roughly 4.7 billion as of July 2015. She currently is on the board of Fellows for Harvard Medical school. Her impact has been great, as less blood is needed to run a sample, thus requiring only a finger prick. She is a great example of someone who saw an issue that no one was solving and took initiative to figure it out. Technology has allowed her to create her fortune.
This is a great product! She could revolutionize the medical industry through this product. Maybe this could even save lives. Holmes has clearly made a name for herself and I believe her success is admirable. Great post!
Great post Andrew, very interesting. I think this is a great product that could be revolutionary. Anything that can keep me away from needles sounds like a great idea to me. Hopefully Holmes continues her success!
This is sounds so great. When it comes to getting blood drawn i get very uncomfortable and kind of go pale haha. But with this new technology that only requires a finger prick i can feel better now about getting my blood drawn.
This is such a great idea! It’s awesome to know that even though she dropped out of Stanford, she is still incredibly successful! I’d love to be able to stay away from painful blood drawing, and maybe it could extent to shots in some way too! Thanks for sharing!!
It amazes me how many great success stories come from people who drop out of school! This is a great example of how important it is to see and meet a need for the production of a product to be successful. I hope her new technology goes far because there is nothing fun about getting blood drawn for tests. Maybe this could revolutionize blood drives as well and make donating more popular since needles are the main drawback for people not to donate.
This is very interesting! I hate anything to do with needles myself, so Elizabeth’s product would be a life saver! I am very curious to see the future of her product.
Being an entrepreneur is all about seeing issues such as those. This girl did an amazing job with this idea of painless blood drawing. As a kid, I never enjoyed that trip to the doctor’s office to get a shot, I look forward to how this product will continue its improvement.
