Do you remember a couple of years ago when those Frisbee’s with LED lights on them came out a few years ago? This product takes that idea and rolls it into a completely new device. These new devices come in the form of a soccer ball. The way it works is as the ball gets kicked around and played with, it stores energy so that a built in LED light is able to light up. These are not your cheapo “turn the lever 1000 times flashlights that don’t shine bright.” These soccer balls store up kinetic energy to light the LED bulb in the ball that keeps shining.
This product has been distributed in Africa and other countries that can utilize these balls in the best way. The developer of this product is 28 year old Jessica Matthews. She saw a need and met it with this incredible product. She has other ideas in the works such as a jump-rope that also stores energy but provides more light with more LED’s. Another product she is working on is a stroller that can store up energy to charge phones and other electronics.
We see products like this being made available for the military, to charge their equipment. I am excited to see where this technology goes and what new energy creating products are made for the general public.
This is a very good idea and I believe it will be very successful. This concept is very cool and is a great way to bring new technology to recreation. I noticed how you said “She saw a need and met it with this incredible product.”, this shows entrepreneurs’ ability to find problems and solve them. I also like how this new technology is being used for the military and I think this brings many ways to help the technology grow.
