Alina Morse is a the creator of Zollipops. Zollipops are sugar-free lolliops that not only taste good but are also good for you. She came up with the idea when she was only 7 years old! She was offered a lollipop by a bank teller but her parents said no because, of course, candy is bad for your teeth. As a result, Alina sought to make a healthy lollipop. The ingredients for the Zollipops are xylitol, erythritol, stevia, and other natural sweeteners. These ingredients help to neutralize acidity in the mouth. By neutralizing acidity, bacteria cannot grow. Zollipops have already proven to be quite successful. She sells her products at Whole Foods, Amazon.com, and OfficeMax.com. She is attempting to get Zollipops in doctors’ and dentists’ offices as well. Eventually, she wants ten percent of her profits to go to hygiene programs in area schools. Alina took a common problem every one struggles with and made it into a successful business.
I would love to eat this! Candy is a delicious and an important snack, but health is equally as important. This is especially true for young and growing bones. Also, candy is a lucrative and competitive business. Alina saw a niche in this business and capitalized on it at a young age.
I admire her success but I am not completely sure that everyone will want to buy a healthy lollipop. To some, a lollipop is perceived as simply a sugary treat and therefore some might be skeptical of a “healthy lollipop”. However, I am inspired by her innovative thought process.
I love this idea! It combines two rapidly growing contrasting industries in society today: sweets and nutrition. Creating a healthy candy for kids that actually tastes good is hard to come by. I would definitely want to try out a “Zollipop” for myself!
Alina’s idea for a healthy lollipop is truly intriguing. Typically, when I think of lollipops, I think of a sugary snack. It is nice that she combined the current health trend to the candy market. I’m glad that she is finding her niche in the lollipop market.
Great blog post! I really like how this product was developed out of a childhood experience. I believe that there is a great market for this product to thrive in. This product could be a smash hit in doctors offices and for parents who want a healthier alternative to candy for their kids.
This sounds like a very cool idea! She saw that there was the problem of kids getting too much sugar from candy resulting in cavities and other health problems. It is highly unlikely that kids will quit eating candy all together so she found another solution for the problem. I myself am a large advocate of healthy eating and love the idea of a more naturally sweetened candy product. This new products will create more profit for both the candy industry and the healthy foods industry. Hopefully, this concept will branch off into other types of candies besides lollipops. Over all, great post!
This is a Very interesting idea, coming from someone who enjoys candies, this would be a great product to have! It is quite innovative as well mixing a kids favorite thing, Candy, and a parents favorite thing for their kid, nutrition. So it is very cool that this is a product, I wonder if they will expand into other hard candies or candies in general!
I really enjoyed your blog post. Alina’s creativity is inspiring. It’s hard to believe she came up with this idea at the age of 7. I would definitely be a customer of Zollipops.
I would have never thought of trying to make a candy healthy, and she did at 7 years old! That’s so awesome. It’s funny how something that has been around for so long can still be changed to something totally different. Good for her for coming up with a great idea, finding her niche, and penetrating the market. I’m curious to see if companies like Dumdum or Wonka react and try to do something similar.
