Alina Morse, the founder of Zollipops, had a modern and health conscious twist on the traditional lollipop. The idea originated back in 2014, with the help of her father she created a lollipop that not only tastes good but is good for you as well. Zollipops are sugar free, and made with sweeteners and other natural ingredients that help neutralize acidity in the mouth which in the end will lead to less tooth decay. This is a contridictory notion that a piece of candy could fight tooth decay which is one of the reasons why Zollipops really took off. Morse had over $70,000 dollars in sales and was featured on the children’s version of SharkTank. She is now looking to dentist offices and schools nation wide in hopes to sell her product. Alina shows great entrepreneurial strength as she was able to see a window niche within the market and was able to fulfill it. There were very few “healthy” candy companies and she took the opportunity and developed a product that not only wasn’t unhealthy but it provided health benefits which is very enticing to the public.
This is a great idea to take a popular food item and turn it into a healthier option; especially considering the fact the our society is continuing to change towards a more healthier society.
This has to be exciting for parents. My mom never let us have candy growing up, but I’m sure she, and other health nut mom’s, would make an exception for this. This is also great if it really does reduce tooth decay. I think it would be wise to do a study on that, but maybe that will come when dentists decide to invest.
I never would have even thought to create a “healthy” lollipop especially because I didn’t think it was even really possible. This is a great, unique idea that I think will continue to gain popularity, especially in todays society where being “healthy” has really took off and the creative foods that are coming out because of that.
What a great idea! With the health craze really picking up in recent years, it is no wonder this was a smashing success. Moms across America must have been jumping at the chance to give their children a candy with health benefits. I know my mom would have bought these for Halloween if they were around.
