Brian Chesky

Brian Chesky is the CEO of Airbnb. Chesky was named one of TIME’S “100 most influential people of 2015” and continues to stay relevant today. Airbnb is a HUGE business and has spread all across the world. Airbnb allows people to rent out their properties to other people. The convivence of staying at a house instead of hotel is becoming more and more popular. People these days travel a lot and would genuinely like to stay in a place that isn’t crowded with hundred of other guests. The idea is absolutely genius and allows users to make money for renting our their properties. Some uses of the product airbnb have made it their own business and their primary source of income. Some people will purchase and or build properties/houses for people to stay at and they will simply continue to rent them out to people. I think this idea is incredible. I have been to multiple airbnbs for multiple reasons and it is so much easier than checking in and staying at a hotel. Airbnb allows the users with the properties to have a target audience based upon the length of their stay as well as some guidelines of what is allowed to happen on or in the house/property. I am sure that some people reading this have gone through the process of booking an airbnb and it is easier than booking a sing hotel room. I think it is so innovative and has really satisfied an itch for people who like to travel and not stay in hotels. I think that this business will continue to grow and more users will begin to rent out their properties and reap the benefits of it.

Nik Delgado

Nik Delgado is a very interesting person to research and report on as he embodies so many characteristics of an entrepreneur that we cover in class. Currently the founder of simple format marketing agency. Nik found his passion for entrepreneurship when he spent a few years working on an innovative product for a competition sponsored by Elon Musk. Nik showed an incredible talent for finding solutions to issues and seeing things through a different lens. This is a great quality in successful entrepreneurs along with other things. His idea for a marketing agency stemmed from an internship he had where he learned that he could do something else than just be an employee. He chose to look at things he is passionate about and wanted to help others build their own businesses. I think that Nik is very inspirational in the fact that he competed in competitions relying on innovation and really saw a spark within himself. He then saw this spark disappear when we went away from doing what he liked most. He has pivoted his path in life and is now a successful entrepreneur who wants to use his passions to help others become successful and grow their own businesses and desires. I think that everyone can take notes from Nik and his story. We live in a world where we have the ability to take our passions and turn them into a profitable and impactful business or service. That’s exactly what he did, when he found out he didn’t like the career path he was on. I will make sure to apply my takeaways from Nik and apply them in my life to make sure I can do something I love while helping others.

Kindness Project

Kiki Hardee was five years old when she learned of a troubling problem. Kids in her school district were not able to afford lunch and it was putting the district in debt. To Kiki this was enough of an issue that it caused her to take action and raise money for the district and the less fortunate within the district. Kiki began to sell cookies, hot cocoa, and running other fundraisers. This is now known as Kiki’s kindness project. After a few years, Kiki has raised enough money to help the district with their debt issues. To date of the article, Kiki has raised more than $22,000. Kiki’s Kindness Project has the goal of collecting ¼ million dollars and promoting the idea of helping others who are less fortunate. I think that Kiki is a great example that you are never too young (or too old) to be innovative and make an impact in your community and the world. She is very inspiring to me because the concept is simple but it is something that has grown to be something much larger than herself. Her motives and inspiration are so pure which makes you just want to help her cause. She has inspired other classmates and people in the community to help the cause which has brought people together which is always great to see relationships being built. I think that the Kindness Project could be spread across the world and help those who are less fortunate receive some help from those who care. This project has a lot of potential to reach other communities and make this world a better place. Crazy to think such a large impact was started by a 5 year old with a kind heart.

Ryan Hickman

Ryan Hickman began his entrepreneurial career at the age of three when he realized the importance of recycling and the potential for earning money. Ryan began his journey by making a trip to a local recycling center and then being rewarded a few bucks. This passion for recycling has grown and developed into a much larger project. The three year old who is now a teenager has widened his vision and now is driven to help clean up the earth one person at a time. Ryan now sells merchandise promoting the message “Making the sea trash free.” The profits of this merchandise, as well as his recycling business, go to the organization Pacific Marine Mammal Center. This organization is a rescue sanctuary for sea lions and seals. Ryan has had a meaningful impact on the efforts of cleaning up the earth. He is very passionate about educating people about how important it is for people to recycle. Ryan believes that if everyone did just a little bit to help, then we would see a large impact on the health of the earth. I think Ryan’s story is incredible and very motivating. As simple as recycling may sound, his passion has driven him to something so meaningful in this world and he has become a part of something that is bigger than himself. I think it is fascinating to see the parallels between what we talk about in class with innovation and the process of growing a business to Ryan’s specific story. I think Ryan will inspire a lot of people to make an effort in doing their 1% and turning this world into a much better and healthier place.Ryan Hickman

Stephanie Conway

Stephanie Conway made a career in brand marketing and events once she graduated from University of Los Angeles. Stephanie worked in public relations for awhile until she quit and started her own marketing virtual assistant business. Circumstances happen in everyone’s life that potentially change the trajectory of their life. Same goes for Stephanie. Stephanie moved back to the UK after a death in the family. She realized later that she thrived much more in the United States. She moved back to the states and continued to thrive. Stephanie had created an impressive resume while working on campaigns with the top influencers and celebrities of the world. Stephanie’s business allows her to life the exact lifestyle that she needs in order to continue to thrive and be successful. I find her lifestyle remarkably interesting. I think that her values of something as simple as the sunrise has made her travel the world more than I can fathom. Stephanie is truly inspiring because of her story as well as how enthusiastic she is about her work. Stephanie is a big advocate for people wanting to become entrepreneurs but who may be too afraid to do so, because of the competition within a space. Stephine believes that people can be innovative and succeed in what they are enthusiastic about. I wonder if Stephanie utilizes her travel to meet new people, network, and build relationships with people or if she purely travels for her enjoyment. I feel like her lifestyle puts her in such a unique position to meet all sorts of influencers and celebrities from around the world.

TRNDSTTRS

Josyah Lavina-Maldonado is the co-founder of TRNDSTTRS. Josyah is a High School student who is a part of a music group that creates rap music and videos. The group is composed of Josyah and his brothers. This group of boys have always shared an interest in music, this accompanied with their interest in having fun and spreading positivity has created something wonderful. These productions give a positive message by talking about the value of friendship and more. To me it is so interesting and fascinating that this group of boys have turned their talents into spreading a positive message for their audience. I think that this innovative way of creating music and spreading a positive message about certain values, is a fantastic way to reach and inspire younger audiences to do something similar. I think that this group of boys have received appropriate attention from companies. I think that they should continue to grow and engaged with a larger audience, especially the youth. By spreading these positive messages and reinforcing certain values, I think it will help the culture for the generations to come. I have also found myself to enjoy their songs and performances. The group is incredibly talented and very entertaining. I am very curious to see what happens with the group as they become adults and are offered even more opportunities. I wonder if they will continue with the trend of positivity or if they will change their material to something else? Regardless, I am sure that this group will continue to thrive and have a positive impact on their audience.
