The Brains Behind the Campaigns

Peters Township native Michael Hanna knows what it takes to run a winning campaign. From the digital side to the organizing of volunteers, 21 year old Michael is the brains behind over 30 winning political races in Pennsylvania alone, and the go-to consultant on hundreds of others.

The co-founder of Jumpstart Strategies, Michael discovered his passion for politics at 6, when he met George W. Bush for the first time. Learning the game from an early age, Hanna learned how to sift the true from the false, the deception from the facts. Since his young start, Michael has met with 3 presidents, his favorite of which is Donald Trump.

An ardent defender of the President, Michael has used his vast network to push meaningful conservative reform. Studying at Penn State online in order to work at Jumpstart full-time, Michael stresses the need to get educated, but not necessarily on a college campus. “Learning on campus offers a variety of distractions, almost all of which can deter you from a path to business success. It’s important to leave with a diploma, but at the end of the day, that’s all it is – a piece of paper.”

With a traditionally democratic family, Michael had to break the trend to become not only an informed voter, but also a prominent voice for the right. His grandfather was the chairman of the Washington County, Pennsylvania Democrat party, but Michael honors his legacy by encouraging people to understand that the party then is not at all like the socialist-leaning party now. It is hard to find people with the values of the older Democrat generations, as the party now is so split.

Hanna is certainly one to watch, with a high chance of soon being on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Serving at the tip of the spear of political campaigning, Michael continues to be a prominent voice in the consulting community. In chess, it is good to be 2 steps ahead, but in politics, if you’re like Michael, you’re 5 steps ahead.

Your move, Democrats.

Suffering from Success

We the best. A simple phrase telling you all you need to about the genius who came up with that phrase to describe his brand. Meet Khaled Mohammed Khaled, fondly referred to by the masses as DJ Khaled. The man who helped create Lil Wayne and Birdman is still at the top of his producing game, while his brand continues to grow.

How did this disc jockey go from nowhere to being a character in Madden NFL, the popular football video game. His path to becoming an icon began in New Orleans, where Khaled was a radio host. From there, he grew in popularity and was hired to DJ live shows, which transitioned into him curating his own albums.

Today, he features greats like 21 Savage, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper, John Legend, the past Nipsey Hussle, and many more. With a net worth of over $35 million, Khaled continues to garner fame and bring his entrepreneurial spirit to the front and center of hip hop culture. He has even invested in his son’s future by naming him as producer of albums and giving the revenue to him.

For the Father of Asahd, his career is just in its prime. We can anxiously expect more summer hits from him as the years go on.

Funding Hope: The Story of Maxwell Weber

When Maxwell Weber steps on the basketball court, it’s safe to assume 3 things. First, the thousand point high school scorer will do what it takes to win. Next, if he puts a shot up, it is going to fall. No matter the distance, when Weber shoots, he scores. Most importantly, though, no matter how hard the fight, Weber will raise up the people around him with ease, a gift he possesses that he is currently using to help those who may want to give up their own fight.

Many entrepreneurs are motivated by a love of money, while others are motivated by a desire to give back to the community. One such visionary is Weber, an upstart out of Newfane, New York. Weber, a prolific and awarded basketball player, knows how to create a winning crew. Together, with his fraternity brother Ross Michaelian and others, he led to way to the creation of Coping and Hoping, a fashionable option for people looking to support the Sharon Regional Cancer Foundation.

Described by those who know him as selfless, dynamic, calculated, and a fashion icon, Maxwell created C&H to honor his aunt, a woman who survived her own fight against breast cancer. A community leader herself, she showed Weber the difference he could make in the lives of people facing their own battles against many forms of cancer.

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so Coping and Hoping, at Weber’s direction, changed their jewelry to be pink, a move followed up by the addition of purple jewelry to commemorate November being focused on pancreatic cancer awareness. Aided by a social media influencer Weber connected with, they are actively working to utilize a social media strategy including targeted ads and organic growth, having reached over 150k on Instagram alone already. This helps them combat the biggest challenge they have faced – reaching markets outside of Grove City.

While facing a daunting task, Weber is comfortable being down two scores, because he knows at the end of the day, he will be right there to hit the game winning buzzer beater when the cure for cancer is found. For now though, he is content lifting the spirits of those around them, adding hope into the community one bracelet at a time. Being a strong visionary, paired with a good support system, continues to show that for thousand point scoring Weber, the sky is not the limit, it is only the beginning.

Jesus is King

Rapper. Fashionista. Icon. Entrepreneur. The list goes on, but one thing is for sure: Ye is a revolutionary, and someone our generation will speak of for years. Born in Atlanta and raised in the Windy City, the famous Trump supporter grew up breaking trends.

As a producer in the early 2000’s, he began his career producing for artists the likes of Jay-Z and Ludacris, and even Alicia Keys. He founded GOOD Records, which has artists such as John Legend, Big Sean, Pusha T, Travis Scott, and Pusha T. Among other ventures, he had an exploratory brand named DONDA that would “carry on where Steve Jobs left off”, a food company called KW Foods LLC, which owns the rights to 9 Fatburger restaurants. From there, his vision as a creative, his marriage to tv personality Kim Kardashian, and his outspoken political views skyrocketed him to the top.

Building his brand as he went, Ye’s fashion sense led to a partnership with Adidas, and from there, the brand Yeezy was born. Selling shpoes for over $800 a pair in some circumstances, the rare and elite shoes draw crowds from around the world to wait for their releases like the diligent fans they are.

West also founded the Kanye West Foundation, combating school dropout rates in Chicago. In addition, “West has additionally appeared and participated in many fundraisers, benefit concerts, and has done community work for Hurricane Katrina relief, the Kanye West Foundation, the Milllions More Movement, 100 Black MEn of America, a Live Earth concert benefit, World War Day rally and march, Nike runs, a Hurricane Sandy benefit concert, and an MTV special helping young Iraq War veterans who struggle through debt and PTSD a second chance after returning home. ”

With an album about to release (fingers crossed), the momentum for the man who realized that your attitude determines your latitude is only climbing. How refreshing it is that an artist as mainstream as Ye publishes an album entitled “Jesus is King” in 2019. He has no handlers. He only fears God.

The Marathon Continues

Late afternoon in South Los Angeles in May of this year, a young entrepreneur stepped outside of his store, Marathon Clothing. The 33 year old was headed to his car, when a man stepped out and shot him 10 times, fatally wounding him and tearing him away from his girlfriend and two children. Ermais Asghedom, may have breathed his last breaths, but his marathon continues. Self described as a “community activist with an entrepreneurial spirit”, Ermais, more fondly known as Nipsey Hussle, had received the nickname “Hustle” from his entrepreneurial ventures.

At 11, he shined shoes for $2.50 to pay for his school clothes, with a goal of shining 100 pairs of shoes a day. Later, he sold his mixtapes out of his car trunk at a strip mall on Crenshaw Boulevard in South LA. After he was with a label, he would experiment with unorthodox sales strategies, before eventually founding his own record label, All Money In.

“The game will test you, but never fold. Stay ten toes down. It’s not on you, it’s in you, and what’s in you they can never take away…It’s about ownership. Own you mind. Mind your own.” Nipsey Hussle knew that luck was a product of hard work, and worked every day from dawn to dusk to build his empire. At the time of his death, Hussle’s net worth was 8 million dollars.

The young boy who shines shoes for school clothes launched himself into stardom, ending up eventually selling his own clothes as an A-List Celebrity. Although his life was cut short, his race is far from over. For Nipsey Hussle, The Marathon Continues.

Motor City’s Ghetto Gospels

Everyone loves a good rags to riches story. The underdog who made the big comeback to win the big game. Enter street rapper Terrence Sanchez Wallace Jr., the hustler fondly referred to as Tee Grizzley. Grizzley, born in Detroit, Michigan, was raised by his grandmother in the Joy Rd. & Southfield neighborhood, because of the proficiency of which his parents frequented in and out of prison. Some of the defining moments of his life were, in 2011, when his mother was convicted to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking, and in 2012, his father was murdered.

Finding himself a broke college student at Michigan State University, Grizzley robbed dormitories, taking over $20,000 worth of electronics and jewelry, before going on the run, where he was eventually caught robbing an electronics store. Grizzley received 9 months for that, and then 18 months to 15 years for the MSU robberies. He was released from prison in 2016.

During his time in prison, he wrote what became a hit single just two weeks after his release, a song entitled First Day Out. This recorded over 3 million streams in the first three weeks after its release. In May of 2018, he released his debut album Activated, which landed at number ten on the Billboard 200. It has been only up from there, with albums Still My Moment and Scriptures hitting top charts as well.

The Motor City rapper climbed from rags to a net worth of 1.5 million as of last year, and he’s innovated by truly reaching the street flow listeners strive for, as well as by building up his reputation through a collaborative guild of heavy hitters, including Chance the Rapper, Lil Pump, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Royce Da 5’9, T.I. and others. Lyricism and a connection to the streets, as well as flashy graphics and marketing have allowed Tee Grizzley to leap to the front of the pack, fighting for breathing room among artists the likes of Drake and Meek Mill.

His climb from nothing to something, motivated by a desire to be the best version of himself possible, is an inspiration, and a reminder that no matter how hard a venture gets, or how bad a situation is, it is always possible to prevail. You just have to put in the time embrace the grind, and the results will eventually follow. His faith in God led him from living every day doubtful of what the next day holds, to knowing his album Scriptures would be streamed by millions daily. From rock bottom, there is only up.
