Benelab

Jack Kim has developed a new approach to social enterprise. On a flight back from a business camp at Standford Kim developed a passion for entrepreneurship and website development. In his freshman year of high school Kim created websites to profit from the web traffic generated by advertisements on his websites.  Kim realized this business model has a capacity for a greater good than clicks and some change.

Kim developed Benelab, a web browser that sends all of its revenue generated by web traffic to charity and other social enterprises.  The company has also begun posting blogs and reports on technology analysis to encourage the flow of web traffic in their direction. Jack Kim has also written articles for the Huffington Post explaining his entrepreneurial journey.

Kim is leading a generation that has not even graduated high school by pushing innovation towards social enterprise instead of commercial enterprise.

Hannah Grace

With the lack of purpose in everyday employment and new employees searching for purpose over pay, it is important for companies to differentiate themselves through their purpose.  “beYOUtiful” is a company begun by ten-year-old Hannah Grace that makes high quality handmade beauty products using all-natural ingredients.

Hannah, with the help and encouragement of her father, began creating and selling bath bombs. Hannah was born with Type 1 Diabetes which has made her life more complicated. That complication drove Hannah to begin donating 20% of her online sales to Diabetes research.  “beYOUtiful” is a company that is giving buyers a greater reason to purchase. Hannah has differentiated her products through her unique approach to craftsmanship, profits, and purpose.

Hannah has already donated $5,000 and as of 2016, her products are sold in 8 retail outlets in 2 states. She has created a business with a purpose and is sure to continue a pattern of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Adam Kluger

In 2008 Adam Kluger looked at the lack of profitability in music in a different light. He wanted to be able to make music more about a brand and less about how many people listened to music.  The music industry was between mediums.  Streaming was not yet popular and the CD was being phased out by digital downloads. Kluger created the “Brand Drop” to increase profitability.

A “Brand Drop” is product placement in musical verses or videos. While artists have always mentioned products or brands in music, Kluger was the first to monetize these promotions in music.

At the beginning of his innovation, Kluger faced some backlash from the industry for his practices possibly violating artistic integrity.  Kluger used the guise of furthering an artists vision as an excuse for his questionable practices.  Kluger provided his services as a middle man to Lady Gaga in her first music video.

While Kluger’s ethics are questionable when it comes to the products and artists he works with we cannot deny his prowess as an entrepreneur. Kluger has hired skit artists involved in videos for musical artists such as Eminem.

Kluger’s innovation makes him a middleman meaning artists have tried to go around Kluger and cut him out of his cut of the transactions.  Kluger was almost cut out of $320,000 during his deal with Britney Spears.

As Kluger’s deal with Spears fell apart, Dannielle Bregoli’s fame began.  Kluger decided to prove his worth through his ability to popularize products or people through the internet.  As soon as Bregolli’s fame had peaked and it seemed that she would fade back into irrelevance Kluger called her and offered to be her manager.  After that Bregolli has exploded as a rapper and personality all incubated by Kluger’s entrepreneurship.

Cole Corley

With a total population of about 10,000 people, reliable pet care is in high demand. Boarding pets can be extremely expensive, and several young entrepreneurs have taken to making pet care more affordable and convenient for busy families. At the age of fifteen, Cole Corley has been running Cole’s Critter Care providing in-home pet care in Prosper, Texas for just over two years.

Corely started locally before expanding his company. He employed his older brother to provide transportation, hoping to streamline the process for more effective outreach. There were some problems with Cole’s older brother not receiving compensation for his time and gas, but Cole patched things over with the transportation services with a Sonic Blast.

Customer service a priority. Cole’s Critter Care initially targeted pet owners but has expanded to general home care after observing the demand for both pet care and home care. Cole’s business relies heavily on returning customers. Corley now feeds animals, plays with animals, and even waters plants and collects mail. Cole’s Critter Care guarantees returning customers by going above and beyond the needs of customers.

Corley ensures his ability to provide for his customer’s needs by increasing Care employment. He hired both his younger sister and best friend to cover shifts, ensuring quality of care.  also ensures customer satisfaction by staying committed to providing quality service despite adversity. Cole has walked or and even skateboarded to customer’s houses countless times when transportation proved difficult.

The newest development in Prosper’s pet care industry is the emergence of a new pet service. Cole’s service is now threatened by a younger, cuter competitor: Mally’s Critter Care. Mallory Corely operates in neighborhoods untapped by Cole’s operation. Cole Corley has decided to step back from his business to focus more on academic growth but will maintain a solid customer base.
