Air + Style

Winning medals in the Winter Olympics, X Games, and ESPY Awards apparently does not keep Shaun White satisfied and needed to find another way to use his passion for snowboarding. He found his next big break with his business, Air + Style. White wanted to bring something to a mass audience that everyone can experience so he connected music and snowboarding to create this thrilling atmosphere where people can attend music festivals and watch professional snowboarders throw some sick tricks in the air. The festivals are not just in the United States, but all over the world. Some of his locations for Air +Style have been Innsbruck, Beijing, and LA. At these locations there are many people that come to watch all the entertainment that is hosted and feel as if they are at the Winter Olympics because of the 16 story snowboard jump.

White not only saw music and snowboarding as a way to build his entrepreneurial ideas , but he took off with his own clothing business called  WHT SPACE. This clothing line is suited for men and can be found in Macy stores. Why call it WHT SPACE? According to Shaun White…

“You know, the white space—referring to the blank space on the floor plan, as well as the position in the market. I got so sick of hearing that, and I remember just thinking, if the white space is so important, why don’t we just name the brand after it? No one told us how to do the marketing or what clothes we needed to make. We are just showing it how it is. I’ve been wanting to do something different for awhile now. So we did just that. Welcome to WHT SPACE” – S.W

What stands out in both AIR + STYLE & WHT SPACE  is authenticity and thoughtfulness. White’s visualized how to give his fans the ultimate experience and represented himself through his clothing line.

Gecko Robotics

Valuing safety first, Gecko Robotics was co-founded by Jake Loosararian with the intent to help save lives that are at risk when inspecting boilers and tanks at industries. Gecko Robotics is a company that founded in 2016 and has since then grown from 15 employee to 50 and a net worth of $7 million continues to expand more. There are multiple Grove City College Alumni that are involved in the company such as Loosararian, Ian Miller, Josh Moore, Alex Watt, and potentially more. These men took the core values, incredibly devoted work ethic, and pursuit for solving problems that Grove City College engraved in them during their college years and applied it directly to the company.

The services that are offered by Gecko Robotics are boiler inspections, tank inspections, and scrubber inspections. The boiler inspections offer the services to detect when degradation forms in water walls from ash and soot – blower erosion graphitization, under-deposit corrosion, thermal fatigue cracking, and creep damage. With the cutting-edge technology, the robotic inspector can gather thickness data around the complete surface of each Water Wall Tube. Inspecting tanks can be catastrophic and life threatening which is why consistent scheduled inspections are the key to preventing tank failure. Finally, the scrubbers used give ultrasound and visual inspections so robots can inspect both the cones and vertical walls to identify patterns of wall thinning.

Reviews from industries that have used Gecko Robotics have only positive words to say about the company. Companies that would could have had a detrimental loss or an outage that would have impacted the productivity are indebted to the services for their safety, reliability and technology. Even Steve Westly, entrepreneur and  CFO of the State of California, and other successful entrepreneurs are investing in Gecko Robotics because they see the growth that is to come for the company.

Build Your Dream

Born and raised in Southern California, Dale Partridge always had a passion for business. Whether it was picking up cans and bottles, selling lemonade, or selling airheads from his backpack at school. It was from the influence of his father that sparked the work ethic in him and by age 25 he had five businesses. But, even with large dollars of income pouring in he was not satisfied and soon realized that the value of profit was not going to fill anything. His success story was a slow process that included him switching jobs multiple times and figuring out that he wanted to make a positive impact in the business world. There is diversity in Dale Partridge’s entrepreneurship experiences ranging from CEO of Sevenly, establishing a Rock Climbing facility, a conference company to a branding agency and a multi-million dollar e-commerce business. He has since then written three books, People Over Profit, Launch Your Dream, and  Saved From Success.

What makes Dale’s story even more of an inspiration is his failures never set him back, they only pushed him to work harder. He was not a millionaire by the age of 20 years old, in fact he had debt, bills, and an average salary. In the middle of his development he ran into hardships such as losing large sums of money and getting fired from one of his own companies that he started. However, these did not defeat him, but fueled him.

It was as if a light switch went off when Dale asked himself the question, “If Jesus ran a business, what would it look like?” From then, he launched Sevenly, a company with a mission to give $7 to a worthy cause for every product he sold. His sights were set on feeding the hungry, rescuing people in human trafficking, caring for the orphan, and spreading the call to be generous. This is not an easy task to achieve considering how culture today is very individualistic and profit over people.

Sevenly’s main purpose is  a ‘cause art’ movement and that established  7-day cause campaigns, inviting customers to buy “advocacy art, apparel and accessories” that donate to non-profits. Each purchase and every product would also create conversations. Questions that would be asked like, “Hey where did you buy that shirt? What is the context behind it?” Now widely recognized as one of the world’s leading ‘social good’ companies, Sevenly activates its signature 7-Day Campaigns and curates ongoing, cause-themed Collections created to change lives by raising funding, awareness and followers for the world’s greatest causes.

JoJo’s Dreams

Support. It is an incredible asset to help entrepreneurs put their ideas into action. The encouragement and confidence received from loved ones entrepreneurs can find themself believing in their dreams.  In fact, Joanna Gaines would not be worth $8 million dollars without the support and encouragement from her family and husband, Chip Gaines. Joanna, also known as JoJo, was not the typical entrepreneur that constantly saw visions or a multi-million dollar business. But, that’s what makes Joanna’s story unique. It wasn’t until she was pushed to step outside her comfort zone and take a risk at a dream, her dream. Magnolia Market.

There were doubts and setbacks that prohibited Joanna from developing the Market like starting a family and raising her children, but she allowed God to decide when it was time for her to go back to the Market and with a lot of patience and prayer, Joanna knew her time had come to re-open Magnolia Market. It was that taste of opening the Market prior to her family that drove Joanna back because she saw a vision of what could unfold from it.

Before the success of Magnolia Market and the five-season Fixer Upper, Joanna was limited on how to “flip houses” or let alone decorate her own home because of the financial depravity Chip and her were in. However,  she had to be creative and think outside the box with such a small budget and find a way to use furniture and antiques that others may not have considered as decoration. The more she was in the shop and able to play around with her ideas the more they developed and expanded possibilities.

Joanna never had the idea that her husband and herself would be where they are now, but she pushed past the fear of failure and let the ideas fuel her. It was from her small vision that led to impacting the culture in WACO, TX. The small town of Waco was just a small town that tourists would pass through to get to Dallas and Austin. Now, Waco is on tourist destinations to see and stay at thanks to the Pinterest perfect Magnolia Markets. The town use to be just  run down and country roads, but thanks to the tourists, Waco has just flourished economically from the success of the Gaines’ business. With the Market they were able to provide opportunities for local shops and vendors to share their business.

Joanna has helped inspire many people to not let the fear of inadequacy and failure be the reason to not pursue a goal or dream. Following the example of her life’s work and attitude through it, entrepreneurs are encouraged to become rooted in what they hope to accomplish and have the faith to take the risk because the lies will come, but it’s how you respond to them.
