Josh Feinsilber- His Entrepreneural Journey

Josh was just a 16-year-old high school student where he felt that he was not getting the most out of the classroom. He only felt engaged in class when games were played to reinforce learning. He saw that other kids would also get bored during class. Josh enrolled in a project-based internship program where he would learn to code. He learned that he loved to code and really enjoyed doing it. So, he put his love for coding and his want to solve the problem of boredom in the classroom together to form a business. Josh imagined a learning platform that would engage and hold the attention of students. Making the learning fun and help students understand, remember and practice concepts. Josh started joining more clubs in school like computer science club to work on his skills and learn new things. His teachers noticed his curiosity and drive. From there he developed his first codes for his app called Gimkit. This app turning boring lessons into fun interactive games that engage students. It is self-passed with a game portion and writing portion. Gimkit also repeats questions to ensure students understand the concepts. It offers a variety of modes and can be used for homework or for in class work. Josh found a way to intertwine the thrill and competitiveness of games into learning. This app pushed him to a global stage where now Gimkit has been used by over 3 million students and teachers in over 100 countries. He made huge impacts in the world of education. Now giving teachers an easier way to reach their students. Josh Feinsilber made an innovation in the learning space just as a highschooler. Showing that with a vision and a good work ethic anything is possible even as just a sophomore in high school.

Bear Mayer- Bruce Bolt Batting Gloves

Bear Mayer was just 16 years old when Bruce Bolt became a reality. He was a full-time high school student and baseball player. He was searching for ways to make money, but didn’t have time to get a job with such a full schedule. The only potential way he could get a job was if he quit baseball, and that just wasn’t an option for Mayer. He asked his dad for advice, and he told him to start a company. Mayer was very lost with where he should start, but then it hit him… Batting Gloves. The name Bruce Bolt came from his grandfather named Bruce who was struck by lightning twice, but somehow survived. He started making gloves out of his garage in Austin, Texas. From there the brand shot off and grew rapidly. Five years later players like Jeff Mcniel in the MLB wear Bear’s batting gloves. But what made Bruce Bolt different? Everyone knows there are a million different options for batting gloves out there. Mayer talks about how when he was playing baseball his batting gloves would always rip and get worn down. So, he makes Bruce Bolt batting gloves with “100 percent Cabretta leather” which is made from the skin of sheep that grow hair instead of wool. Mayer calls it “the best leather in the world” and prevents tearing. So, what makes Bruce Bolt different is its durability. The gloves also allow for extra padding to prevent injuries in players hands. Today, Bruce Bolt has arm sleeves, pants, sliding Mits, and more. It has grown so far beyond batting gloves as customers love the designs and colorways of the brand. I personally love Bruce Bolt myself which is why I chose to write about Mayers story. I own my own pair of Bruce Bolt batting gloves, and they are great. It is truly inspiring to see that even with a bunch of huge competitors Mayer found a way to innovate and build a brand in something he loves.

Ben Pasternak’s Entrepreneural Journey

Ben Pasternak was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1999. Like any young kid Ben was always playing video games, using his phone, and always on technology. But what separated Ben was that he was interested in how these apps were made and how they worked. At just the age of 15, Ben was bored in school when he thought of an idea for an app. The idea of the app was a game which involved a rotating square that players needed to match with the corresponding-colored balls. didn’t take long for it to get recognized. Only in a few weeks the app reached a million downloads. The viral app was called Impossible Rush. Ben soon dropped out of high school to pursue his work in the tech world. Ben started to work more on the social side of the internet with his next to creations being Flogg which was a app for teenagers to buy and sell Items. The Next he co-founded Sup which was an app to help find friends and meet up with them in real life. Lastly, in 2019 he co-founded NUGGS, a company that produces plant-based chicken nuggets. Even in the food industry Ben uses his technology expertise to constantly work on their recipes based on customer feedback. This approach led to rapid growth once again. Today, Ben Pasternak continues to create and push the boundaries. He rebranded NUGGS as Simulate, into a broader range of plant-based foods. He continues to find ways to innovate with his tech driven solutions. One thing I love about Ben’s story is that he never became complacent. He made a viral app and instead of being satisfied. He kept working and made 3 more businesses. Bens’s journey is far from over.

Whitlock started coding at the age of 12 when he built a anonymous messaging app that would allow him to contact his absent father. Whitlock talks about how his first project helps guide him into his future and what he wants to accomplish.  The idea for SAFETRIP came along when Co-founder Ja’Nese Jean saw and talked to a homeless veteran who said people around Atlanta don’t have transportation to get to medical appointments.  She quickly brought on Whitlock just at the age of 17 who she had met years prior working at local events.
