Luke Nichols is a 46 year old entrepreneur with an abundance of wisdom and experience. He has had an entrepreneurial career like no other. From 2003 to 2009, Luke owned a political service and legal defense company. While he was managing his successful startup, he was attending law school at George Mason University. After graduating from law school in 2009, Luke started his own law firm, Nichols & Green. Luke and his partner specialized in traffic law cases in northern Virginia for many years. Luke was known as one of the best lawyers in cases of DUI/DWIs, reckless driving, etc. While working as a lawyer, Luke started his very popular YouTube channel, Outdoor Boys. The Outdoor Boys YouTube channel contained videos of Luke and his sons doing everything outdoors. He made fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, etc. videos for their channel. Luke, who grew up in rural Alaska, provided a unique combination to his viewers. He is a man of great skill, so his viewers are able to learn a lot from his videos. Luke’s skills combined with the innocence of his young sons created an appealing mixture. After several years of multitasking as a YouTuber and a successful lawyer, in 2020, Luke decided to make a change. He took a massive leap of faith by leaving his job as a lawyer to pursue YouTube full time. Fortunately, his bravery has paid off in many ways. The Outdoor Boys channel now has 11.3 million subscribers. Luke now makes weekly family friendly content documenting his outdoor adventures with his family. Many of his viewers take a liking to Luke’s wealth of knowledge. They realize that a successful lawyer who parents well and has the capabilities to survive in the woods is a good person to be listening to. Luke has a unique entrepreneurial journey that I felt would be great to share.

Matthew Meagher is a YouTuber with nearly 3 million followers. For the past nine years, Matt has been posting high quality content playing popular sports video games. He is an inspiration to me and many other young men because he is able to make a living off of something that he loves to do.

For Matt Meagher, early life was pretty typical. He grew up in the small town of Dewitt, Michigan. Growing up, he loved to play sports. He played everything you could imagine. By the time he entered high school, he had narrowed it down to football, basketball, and track. In those high school years, the sports gaming scene was starting to take flight. Matt became really interested in several games, but one game stuck out. That game was Madden Mobile. The EA football game, Madden, had been released for PlayStations and Xboxes for years prior. The shift from Madden exclusively being available on gaming consoles, to also being available as a mobile app, was a huge generator in sales. Matt Meagher took advantage of this new phenomenon in sports gaming.

Since Matt loved the mobile game and being on camera, he thought he would combine the two. In 2015, when Matt was just a junior in high school, he made his first Madden Mobile gameplay video and posted it to YouTube. He named his channel “MMG” which stood for Madden Mobile Gods. From the start, his videos took off. He very quickly gained a large following which allowed him to expand his content scope. Instead of making exclusively Madden Mobile content, he was able to make Madden console videos as well.

As Matt finished high school and then graduated college at Michigan State, he never stopped making content. To this day, Matt still releases Madden football content. Matt’s consistency of creating content over the last nine years isn’t the only reason he has a large following. Matt was a pioneer for the sports gaming scene on YouTube. He was one of the first to introduce the game of Madden to YouTube.

Matt Meagher is now using his YouTube platform to support his family and give back to his community in Dewitt, Michigan. Matt is living the dream of so many Americans. He has made a comfortable living by doing something he loves.

Picture this: A young girl named Hillary Yip and her younger brother were struggling to learn Chinese. Hillary and her brother had tried countless methods for almost ten years. Their parents were exhausted and felt like they were out of options. This struggle to learn new things independently gave Hillary an idea. She thought that kids should have a platform where they can learn concepts together. This brilliant epiphany sparked the app MinorMynas.

Hillary, who was only twelve at the time, was forced to learn how to create and develop her idea from scratch. With the help of her parents, she was able to create what he had envisioned. Minor Mynas is now defined as an online educational platform for children to learn different languages. MinorMynas gives kids the opportunity to compare their experiences with study techniques and many more.

The creation of MinorMynas is a prime example of a slow hunch. Hillary Yip saw a niche problem that she believed she could solve. With many months/years of intentional ideation, Hannah and her parents were able to make something special. Hillary noticed that the common language learning platforms like Dualingo and Babbel were not geared towards children.

To give her platform as much attention as possible, Hillary entered various entrepreneurial competitions. In 2016 at the AIA Emerging Entrepreneur Challenge, MinorMynas won 1st place overall, along with the “Best Business” award. The judges were pleased by Hillary’s entrepreneurial spirit and how interactive her platform was.

The Hong-Kong based company has continued to improve through the years. MinorMynas can be found on the Apple app store, with improved versions coming out frequently.

A bold step from Hillary enabled kids from around the world just like her to learn languages as comfortably as possible. We could all benefit from having the same boldness as her.
