Sick Beats by Ethan Hayes

Ethan Hayes, a man who never thought he would be nominated for Grammy’s by 22. Growing up he knew he had a passion for music, and by his senior year he was creating “beats,” for songs by writing an initial melody and then, using computer programs like FL Studio, digitally layering in instruments like drums, pianos, guitars, and synthesizers. He was on the fast track, until COVID-19. But really, that’s when Ethan’s career started to rocket. He developed signature beats with his own style – operatic with grand melodies. He noticed that getting his music to be well-known was going to be hard, but slowly he started to sell his music to small unknown artists. After the rapper NBA Youngboy used one of his beats, more and more producers became interested. He created beats for Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s collab album The Voice of the Hero which ended up becoming a huge hit album in 2021. After an insane year that culminated with the 64th annual Grammy Awards, when Nas’s King’s Disease II, which included a beat produced by Hayes, Sony Music Publishing was impressed enough to sign him. A senior at Bryant University as an Entrepreneurship major, he is determined to ride his current success as far as it will take him.

Ethan Hayes

Ethan’s determination to not give up is something that I think is necessary to be a successful entrepreneur. He obviously had a passion for music, and he learned more and more about how to make his music unique, and that’s when people started to notice him. It’s definitely very hard for musicians to become well-known, but I think that if Ethan keeps up the good work, he is on his way there!

Da Bomb Bath Bombs – A Company Founded on Fizz and Fun

two women standing in front of confettiTeenage Sisterpreneurs with a love for bath bombs set out to make kids’ experience with bath bombs 10 times more fun! Little did they think the fun activity in their basement starting in 2015 would turn into a booming business. How Isabel and Caroline made their bath bombs stand out, is that each one contains a special surprise in the middle. They knew they got sad when their bomb dissolved, so now you aren’t sad because there’s something inside it in the end that almost compells you to want it to dissolve to see what special object you got! Toys, charms, messages, and jewelry are just a few of the treasures you’ll find inside their products. They also like to keep their bath bombs as natural as possible, making them with just a few high-quality ingredients in their hometown. As their business continued to grow, they now sell different scents, colors, and variations of the bath bombs. Also, other products like body scrubs, bath salts, and shower steamers.

I personally have not seen bath bombs like this, and it intrigues me. As the Christmas season is approaching, I think these would be great gifts for friends or younger siblings. I like how they really differentiated themselves from the normal simple colored bath bomb, making their products, scents, and packaging colorful and creative.

Life Hunt

Alyssa Hunt is the creator of The Life Hunt, a blog aimed at motivating people to hustle toward their business and financial dreams while navigating everyday life. After running into the problem of not knowing how to balance her writing time and her job properly, she went online to get some advice, but couldn’t find any. So, she innovated and created a website dedicated to helping people chase their dreams while working full-time.

Alyssa Hunt

Alyssa’s idea stuck out to me. It reminded me that to be an entrepreneur, you don’t have to be making products, because she is succeeding with a website that she realized people had a need for. She’s currently running a one woman show, so she keeps a journal to write down any ideas she come up with, even if it may seem silly. I’ve seen a common occurrence of many other entrepreneurs carrying around journals. I think this is a great way to let ideas settle, so that you can revisit and look at it from multiple points of view. Another tactic she mentions is having a 30 min meeting with herself every week. This allows her to reflect on the past week and her success, but also areas of improvement. It allows her to make a realistic to-do list and to set goals for the upcoming week as well. Alyssa is very goal oriented, and I think that’s so important for an entrepreneur!

Zandra Beauty

Right before her 10th birthday, Zandra Cunningham launched Zandra Beauty. After she was told “no” to buying a lip balm at the store, she decided she would make her own at home. She and her mother would experiment with different ingredients and scents until finding formulations they liked. Slowly but surely, their little experiments at home turned into a brand.

Known for her love of beauty products at a young age, she wanted her company to empower other young girls like her. What makes Zandra Beauty unique, is that her products are packed with natural ingredients filled with nutrient-rich, plant-based skincare that promotes healthy skin while improving self-confidence. She targets her passion towards young girls, donating 10% of every purchase made to support the education of young girls across the globe. She also partnered with a non-profit corporation in Buffalo, NY called Girls Education Collaborative (GEC) that also helps young women gain access to education.

Reading about Zandra’s experience and how she flourished in her company is really inspiring. Being 21 years old now and learning more about the industry, she continues to refine and her formulas and inventory. She said something that really stuck with me, “There are so many brands doing similar things, but there’s still so much room to grow,” she says. “Your customers are out there, you just have to find something that’s going to set you apart.” I think this is great advice, the economy is growing every day, what can we find that sets our own business or ideas apart from everyone else?

Diamonds from Ashes

Adelle Archer

Adelle Archer, co-f0under of Eterneva, allows the remembrance of past loved ones to live on. If you have ever lost a beloved friend, family member, or pet, you can relate to Adelle’s story. She realized that there are not a lot of good memorial options after she lost someone very close and special to her, so she created Eterneva. As more and more people in the U.S. begin to get cremated, Adelle wanted to give people a better way to eternalize their loved ones and celebrate their lives, so she created real diamonds from the carbon in ashes. The diamonds are made into jewelry like rings and necklaces, customized to your loved one. Behind every diamond made is a beautiful story of someone or a pet.

Adelle has shown the drive of an entrepreneur. Her company was named Consumer Startup of the Year by the Stevie Awards, featured on Shark Tank, featured on both Inc and Forbes coveted ’30 Under 30′ lists. As an entrepreneur, she recognizes that there are many ideas floating throughout her mind all day, and it’s hard to keep track of them all, so she resulted to journaling every morning, and advises others do that as well. Along with that, she advises younger entrepreneurs to lean into community early, nothing is done by yourself. I think this is great advice, it aligns with Grove City and what we implement as well, community is so important!

Adelle is such an inspiration to me! She provides so much great information and I really love the idea of Eterneva. She went through something tragic, but like someone who has an entrepreneurial mind, found a problem and made something good come out of it. I’m a jewelry person and would definitely invest in a diamond from her company and would recommend this to many others.

“Make the Sea Trash Free” – Ryan Hickman

Ryan Hickman has a passion for making the earth a better place. He realized at a young age, he didn’t like seeing cans and bottles lying on the ground everywhere, so he took matters into his own hands. It all started when Ryan would collect his family’s and neighbor’s recyclables by going door-to-door with a bag attached to his bike. By the age of seven, in Orange County, California, Ryan’s Recycling Company was brought to life.

Ryan Hickman

Word spread and many other people started recycling in their homes so Hickman could come pick it up and take it to the recycle center. His goal is to recycle to prevent cans and bottles from reaching the ocean, where it’s harmful for the environment. He has been on many shows and organizations to talk about his business and sells t-shirts on his website from which all the profits go to a rescue organization called Pacific Marine Mammal Center. He’s also started a non-profit called Project 3R, which educates and stresses the importance of recycling and helps organize and manage community clean-up efforts. Hickman found an area of need that he had a passion for and was able to create a successful business that is cleaning up our economy.

Ryan inspires me to be bold and follow through with my desire to make the world a better place. I love how he was able to start a business and make profit from it, but then also start a nonprofit. He is a truly caring person and I aspire to create impact like he does. I learned that being able to have close relationships with family, friends, and neighbors is a great opportunity to test your business ideas. Ryan did just that and people loved it, I’m sure he was then inspired to take his ideas to the next level, with the support of his community.
