A New Way of Microblogging and Social Networking.

As new ways of communicating with other people have been invented, nothing has been like the microblogging and social networking site Tumbler. The story of Tumbler is interesting as well. At the age of 21, David Karp was just like any other entrepreneur who wanted two things in life: success and fortune. Being that David Karp had dropped out of high school when he was younger, all Karp really had was a few items and a dream, but, what differentiated David from any other entrepreneur was his drive and passion for his dream. While going about his daily activities one day, David had a genius idea about microblogging and social networking and as before, David always was very interested in this section of communication and had lots of knowledge in this sector of conveyance. David had the idea of Tumbler which ultimately is a  microblogging and social networking site that lets users express themselves, be themselves, and connect with other people. But what differentiates Tumbler from any other microblogging and social networking site is that Tumbler is very image-focused and ultimately there is no maximum word limit on posts that are created as many other sites have. On top of each image, Tumblr users can post videos, sound files, and many other types of content that other sites don’t allow their users to access. Finally, the biggest pro of Tumbler is the site’s ability to let users customize their life and portray it for all to see. Lots of other sites are very limited in this factor and do not let their users customize/personalize aspects of their profile, but Tumbler ultimately lets users customize every aspect of their profile.

What is exemplary about David is that he didn’t let anything stand in this way. As a high school dropout, many people don’t do anything or have ideas that can change the future, but David ultimately dropped out of high school to follow his passion and pursue his dreams. What drives David Karp as an entrepreneur is his willingness to never settle for less. Although Tumbler was created in 2007, it has never stopped updating and inventing new aspects of the app to be more user friendly. What makes Tumbler an interesting idea is that David Karp created this successful app when he was 20. Although various apps were created by young entrepreneurs, David didn’t even have a high school diploma when thinking about Tumbler. He took his dream and passion and poured it all into His app. Entrepreneurial traits that David demonstrates are passion, persistence, and hard-working. David Karp is innovating day in and day out by teaching anyone that age doesn’t play a role in how successful you can be. Finally, David specifically inspires me to chase after my dreams even if they don’t make sense. When David Karp created Tumbler, in the beginning, nothing made sense. It seemed like an overall similar app to the competition, but with research and hard work, Karp ultimately made this dream become a reality.

Bumble-An Innovation to the Online Dating World.

When looking at the world of online dating, lots of apps come to mind such as Tinder, Zoosk, and Eharmony, but none are like the new app named Bumble, which allows Women to make the first move in a relationship. When looking at how Bumble started, this is a very unique story indeed. Whitney Wolfe Heard, the inventor of Bumble, first started in college by finding a project named  “Help Us” which aided areas that were affected by the BP oil spill. How she raised money for this project was by selling Bamboo bags which reached much coverage from celebrities’ and many other famous businesses. After this successful project took off, Whitney then expanded into launching Tinder which now is a very prominent and successful dating app that allows single people to find the right person for them. After being vice president of marketing at Tinder for some time, Whitney then moved into finding Bumble which allows Women to make the first move in the relationship and ultimately creates gender equality. Whitney really has made a successful company which is estimated at one billion dollars and 360 million registered users.

What is unique about this Whitney Wolfe Heard is her ability to never settle for less. After creating the Help Us project and launching Tinder, she could have stopped there and settled but she didn’t. She innovated the online dating world by letting women take the reigns in the relationships. What drives Whitney as an entrepreneur is equality. When looking at her story, Whitney really didn’t like the fact that women weren’t equal with men in the online dating world and she saw a chance to innovate that and make it successful. She ultimately took a simple idea and created lots of meaning behind it. What makes Whitney’s business idea most interesting is simply thinking outside the box. Online dating has already been accomplished, but never has gender equality been incorporated into the mix like Whitney did with her app. Vision, passion, innovative, Resilient, and Persistent are all examples of entrepreneurial traits that Whitney exemplifies throughout her business venture. The way Whitney is innovating is simply by incorporating gender equality into the world of online dating. Whitney is so inspiring to me because she ultimately teaches every entrepreneur and businessperson not to think in their own corner or not to stay in their own little space even if an idea has been invented. Finally some principles I have learned from Whiteny would be to never settle for less or never stop striving. After Tinder, Whitney could have been done with inviting and innovating but she didn’t stop there. She ultimately created something great and amazing.

7 Billion Dollar Sandwich Shop Started by a 17 Year Old Entrepreneur

What comes to mind when you think of Subway? Many people associate this popular chain with sandwiches, meatball subs, wraps, and various other products, but many people don’t know the backstory of how this popular chain came to be a 7 billion dollar company. Going back to 1965, a gentleman by the name of Fred De Luca was looking forward college and medical school, but not paying those bills or that student loan. One day, while thinking about college, Fred had an awesome idea of starting a shop in Connecticut  that specified in sandwich making, but ultimately didn’t have the funds to forgo his dream. Thankfully, a family friend by the name of Dr. Peter Buck loaned Fred $1,000 to open his sandwich shop in Bridgeport Connecticut and little did Dr. Buck know that this shop would be a success in the future. After various name changes of the company, major fixes, and other important changes, subway ultimately came into success 1969 and in 1974, this simple subway shop started franchising and expanding.

After reading Fred De Lucas story, I can say without doubt I am extremely inspired. What is exemplary about Fred De Luca is his ability to take a small portion of money and create a sandwich shop different from the competitors. He didn’t let his start up funds stand in the way of his dreams and ultimately took $1,000 to create something incredible. After achieving minor success, he continued to expand, innovate, and grow his company until his death in September 2015. What ultimately drove Mr. De Luca, in the beginning, was to gain enough money to get to go to college and medical school, but after, another driving factor that pushed Fred to strive for more success was his personality of never striving for less. In this story, we see multiple accounts of Mr. De Luca never settling, but ultimately pushing his company toward greatness. What made this specific sandwich shop interesting and nothing like the competition was that Mr. De Luca has no formal experience in making sandwiches or even anything about food. He was just a young entrepreneur with a mind full of dreams and a pocket full of dust. Some entrepreneurial traits that Mr. De Luca demonstrated were Initiative, Persistence, Assertive, and Self Confidence. Mr. De Luca innovated the entrepreneurial market when He and his family friend Mr. Buck started an Entrepreneurial program that helps young entrepreneurs and young inventors accomplish their dreams and ideas by providing them with microloans. The name of the program is Micro Investment Lending Enterprise. Mr. De Luca inspires me to want to start up a business and not have a funding stand in the way of that dream. Of course as entrepreneurs, we need to think about funding, but most of the time, we always assume we need millions to start a successful company, but that is not true. Finally, a principle I have learned from Mr. De Luca is the principle of wealth-creating. This principle means creating wealth and benefits for my company and myself.

Women Revolutionizing the Business World.

When exploring the nature of business and entrepreneurship, most people think that one gender, specifically males, are only capable of achieving success. But as times change and life moves on, females are taking the markets by storm and showing everyone that both genders are capable of success in the business world. This was truly the case for Grace Beverley only 23 years old, who started 2 successful companies and even created an app. While studying at Oxford University, Grace had various thoughts about different ventures and decided to start small by creating a company by the name of “B_ND” in 2019. Not so small, B_ND is a fitness apparel store that sells premium gym equipment such as resistance bands, straps and pads. B_ND was taking various markets by storm and making Grace Beverley’s name popular in the business world. Deciding to expand, Grace pushed forth and even created a fitness app by the name of Shreddy that provides workout and meal plans that are personalized to each individual. This app also constituted much publicity and was very popular. While checking out Shreddy on the Apple app store, I found that this utility has a 4.7 star rating and very good reviews. After multiplying her success and creating a name for herself, Grace didn’t stop there. By the end of 2019, she had created yet another business named TALA. The interesting thing about this venture is that Grace not only created a clothing brand that sells various styles, colors, and designs of clothing, but that is environmentally friendly. TALA’s clothing is made from 92% reused materials that are from factory offcuts to plastic bottles. Where most clothing brands are only tailored to certain individuals, TALA makes clothing that fits any type of body shape and size.

After reading about Grace Beverley’s story I can say I learned a lot from her. What is so unique about Grace’s story however is that she didn’t settle for less. After creating B_ND, she didn’t stop there and settle, she moved onto bigger and better things. She has various interesting entrepreneurial traits but three that are most specific to her are looking for opportunity (TALA, making clothing that fits all women any size and body shape) persistent (not settling after creating one successful business), and self confidence (Not letting her gender define who she really was destined to be). In my opinion, what drives Grace Beverley the most is her passion for success and not letting anything stand in her way, especially her age. When looking at women’s activewear clothing companies, many huge names come to mind such as Nike, Lululemon, and Alala and many small ventures could feel threatened by these big brand names, but Grace didn’t. She created TALA and was self-confident that she could innovate the way women’s activewear was designed. What ultimately makes Grace’s ideas or business models interesting is that her products are tailored more toward women and not men. Many activewear companies only take into account that Men workout and leave women out of the picture, but Grace changed that. When going through TALA’s and B_ND’s websites, each section features all women of any race and size working out or just posing for a photo. You won’t see men on that website because Grace specifically tailored her products toward women. The reason that Grace’s ideas are innovating the activewear market is because she is designing different clothing with purposes behind them that aren’t just for profit. Finally, the principals I have learned from grace is to attack my ideas and have confidence in them. Far too many times, I will come up with ideas or business inventions that could revolutionize the way humans do things, but if I come to a point where I am stuck, I will rule it out and discard any further thoughts into it. Grace has inspired me to have principles of self confidence and to ultimately follow my ideas because you truly never know what business you could create out of that simple idea that you thought was stupid.

Ben Pasternak, a Young Entrepreneur Who Shows Age Doesn’t Matter.

When thinking about words such as business, economics, entrepreneur, and various other words to describe involuntary exchange among men, most people think of old, rich, snobby men who achieved success later in life. However, this wasn’t the case for Ben Pasternak. Ben Pasternak is an Australian entrepreneur who is currently one of the youngest and hard-working entrepreneurs only being 21 years old. Now the reasons he is one of the youngest and hard-working entrepreneurs is because of where his story started. Ben Pasternak started out at only age 14 when he created a game called Impossible Rush which had millions of downloads and had the Apple App Store by surprise. Now the reason why this is such an important fact about Ben’s life is that most top-rated games on the App Store or various other platforms are created by huge companies with a lot of money. Ben was only 14 when he created this and I am sure that various individuals knew he had the potential for big things in his life.

Another huge achievement in Ben’s life is the fact that he co-founded a company called Monkey at only age 17! Monkey is a video chat-based app to help users meet new people. The app had over 3,000,000 users and all users are very active. It is crazy that being this young without having boatloads of cash from a company or even help from various professionals that Ben and his friends created a company with over 3 million users. What is so unique about Ben is that he doesn’t let his age stop his creativity or his passion. He had a dream to make games, platforms for people to meet, and change the world and he ultimately did. The drive that ultimately pushes and motivates Ben is not only his success but to leave his mark on the world by making it a better place. I read various articles on Ben and in every single article, there were always comments on how Ben wanted to make his mark on the world and change it for the better. Some entrepreneurial traits that Ben demonstrates would be Motivation, Creativity, Persuasiveness, Vision, Versatility, Risk tolerance, Flexibility, and Decisiveness. Finally, the way Ben is innovating the world is simply by bringing people together. Using his Monkey company as an example, he is helping people who are lonely or have a hard time making friends come together and meet. He is not only worried about making money or achieving success but ultimately on helping others

In conclusion, I have learned a lot from Ben and one word sums it up: passion. Whenever I think of an idea or something that can change the world, I always ignore it and think “Nobody will like this”, but Ben ultimately ignored those thoughts and attacked the market aggressively by introducing “Monkey” and “Impossible Dash”. Ben ultimately is so inspiring to all young people and shows that age doesn’t determine your creativity or skill level because every person is different and was created for a reason.

Different Angles of Photography.

Image result for daily booth logo

While most people think that entrepreneurship is just another word for inventing ideas, various individuals always seem to push the limits and prove that to be an incorrect statement. Jon Wheatley, for example, found a way to innovate the social standpoint from various views.. Jon  is the inventor of DailyBooth. DailyBooth is a photo blogging website designated for each user to take a photo of themselves every day with a caption and share their life with others. DailyBooth was created in February 2009 and what is so unique about this platform is that Jon looked at social media and photography from a different angle. Snapchat, Instagram, VSCO, and various other social media platforms weren’t invented yet, so Jon found another way of sharing photos online and showing others what is happening in your life. Facebook was created in 2004, but at that time, not many people thought of using photography as a way of expressing yourself, but Jon Wheatley really did an impeccable job of creating a platform that could. Not only does Jon Wheatley have the common traits of being creative, strong, and passionate, but Jon ultimately has the trait of problem-solving. He saw the need for people wanting to interact online, but instead of just communicating via email or Facebook, he ultimately found a way for users to express themselves through the use of photography. Not only was profit the driving force for Jon Wheatley, but the sense of bringing people together and ultimately helping users connect with people, even strangers, was ultimately what drove Jon to pursue this idea and ultimately make it a program. Lastly, the most unique thing about Jon Wheatley is that he looked at Facebook and various companies at the time and spotted a problem. The problem was that these companies had great communication based platforms, but there was something missing. That is where Jon came in and put photography into the mix. Through the use of putting photography into a communication platform, Jon really inspired the creators of Instagram and Snapchat to pursue this even further.
